I thought conservatives didn't like all those elitist east coast lawyers.

Huckabee had her High School and Sunday school teacher respond the same way.  XD

It's still a good idea to not accept morons into your school.

Ted Cruz wouldn't be qualified to run a lemonade stand, let alone have a job in Congress. That's why he's the slimiest of all the Republicans. He's woefully incompetent but has superb skills in sucking up and being a "yes" man.

Yep. This is just liberals deliberately trying to keep fine, upstanding conservatives down.

I'm sure Mike Ross learned more at Harvard Law than Ted Cruz ever did.

Hawley clerked at the Supreme Court. Under Roberts, IIRC. He understands the law. He's just being an asshole. Same with Cruz.

Rafael Cruz.

Maybe you should have reflected that in your grading.

Can't these schools revoke their degrees?

"They know the process worked normally because I taught them how the process works. "

You tried and they earned a c plus. You taught dies not mean they learned.

Not if they earned them. Unless they did something untoward in the pursuit of their degrees, there's nothing to be done.

Given that Cruz has had an incredibly successful career as a lawyer, in his case it more like he simply sold out and was willing be a hack. The very fact that the legal arguments he makes in his political speeches is often wrong at the high school level should make it clear that this is the case. No one who actually believes what he says could pass the Bar Exam.

Remember the Republicans' negative campaign  about Democrats nominating "activist judges" who "legislate from the bench"?

I'm not Pepperidge Farm, but I still remember.

Oh no, the idea has stuck.  It's a common refrain when judges act against a conservative's wishes.

I get the sense that if you graduated from an Ivy League law school and then are publicly called out by one of your law professors in this way, that has to feel like a reasonably serious mark of shame.

An asshole? Well, I'm glad that's been sorted out.

i am 51 years old and my 8 grade English teacher is on my Facebook and when I occasionally write a diatribe about something nonsensical she will correct it.

She also posted about the time I was reading a book during quiet time and thought that the smile on my face was out of place.

See the cover of the book said the Hobbit but the inside was really the novelization of Porky's the Movie.  She confiscated the book and gave it back to me at end of term.

These asswipes pretty much played along with Trumps fraud and enbolded him with their fantasy legal claims to the country's peril.

Ted Cruz born Rafael Edward Cruz in Calgary, Canada obtained political asylum in the USA after his student visa expired.  Sure sounds like one of those immigrants that Trumpy warned people were coming.

I hear you, but you know the saying, never take criticism from anyone you wouldn't take advice from. Those two don't care what we think of them any more than we care what Franklin Graham thinks of us. But having your law professor take a shot at your qualifications, in an open letter no less, where all of your professional network is going to see it, has to really kill your credibility with people whose opinions matter.

If they had any shame, they wouldn't be Republicans in the first place.

I am proudly educated by the State of California, but have worked with two Harvard alums who did their graduate work at UC.  I think the public education piece balanced them out a bit; it seems to be double-dipping on private school that screws you up.  Just look at the OJ Simpson Murder Trial:

At least 1 Degree at UC System:  Marcia Clark, Judge Ito, Robert Shapiro, Johnny Cochrane, William Hodgman, Carl E. Douglas, Christopher Darden, Barry Scheck (Innocence project)

Ivy: F. Lee Bailey (disbarred in 2001 and 2003), Alan Dershowitz (see wiki page)
Georgetown: Gerald Uelmen (wrote "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit")
USC: OJ Simpson (Convicted of robbery), Robert Kardashian (Water boy for the Trojan football team)

I think I just wrote a long diatribe not too many days ago, about how law is amoral and all its practitioners (not excluding my own venal self) are slimy, amoral scumbags.

You don't have to be a good person to be a bang-up lawyer. In fact, it helps a lot if you are a borderline sociopath.
