That's too bad.  Hope he gets better completely.  Always seemed like a good guy.

he's my favorite off-court - funny, self-deprecating, active in civil rights issues. what he's managed to achieve in the midst of playing amongst the three GOATs is pretty farking incredible.

For some reason I read "Anne Murray" and now I have Danny's Song in my head. Dammit.

He's also been consistent in boosting the women's game as well. Like whenever people talked to him about Federer, Djokavic, and Nader being the best he'd always big up Serena Williams for example.

Princip's Sandwich: Is he back to being Scottish now?

Beat me to the joke. I actually got luck to get a hat signed by Murray at a tournament. We went to see him play but his match was canceled due to opponent injury. We ended up going to another outer court match and had a great time. Then on way back to center court, he happened to come out to a practice court to practice serve/volley so we got front row seat and he signed a bunch of people's things afterward. Was friendly to the crowd and took time to sign a lot of stuff up and down the line.

And he was a survivor of the Dunblane massacre, so he's been through some shiat.

He must have sounded miserable when making the announcement.
