We got a mass email letting us know that if we want to hang onto our security clearances we'll stay away from any light treason. Kinda cracked me up. I wonder how many people at that rally are pissing themselves wondering how long it's gonna be until they get outed by a coworker or family member.

Suck starting a pistol will probably look like a good option to some.

That is mainly a myth (in Canada at least). Other than brief periods after the initial purchase of a policy suicide is covered.

My life insurance pays out 100% for suicide after the first year of owning the policy

I fail to see many judges being sympathetic about this behavior.  I bet a minimum 10 years to be served will be written in to the sentence.

I think it's about 85%. You can get 54 days off per year.

Wouldn't be surprised if we see a handful of these by the time it's over.  Some because of the crime(s) and likely sentence.  Others because of additional things outside of 1/6 they did or have in their possession that the FBI will find as soon as they start investigating.

Won't be a lot, but if you're looking at hundreds of people facing charges for things like sedition, conspiracy, and whatever charges make up "domestic terrorism".  That's a lot of people who probably know their lives are functionally over.  That'll push a few to just end it instead of living the next couple decades in a prison followed by their senior citizen years with no retirement, no job, and probably socially ostracized.

Am I a bad person for taking time off from doing suicide prevention?

Everyone needs a little vacation sometimes and I worked over Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Then again the suicide prevention charity i work is quite hostile to abusive people and has a color scheme and graphic design style that can be described as "Unicorn Fart Pallet".
