The only discussion is ; should a president be allowed to use domestic terrorists  to attack Congress and the Constitution or not. Opposing impeachment is a continuing act of sedition and a failure to honor a members oath of office.

Was listening to Gohmert and he's was talking about why bother with so little time.

Well, see. Thing is. We were told a year out was too close to an election to think about appointing a new Supreme Court Judge....but that changed.

If we don't impeach now, we say a president has Carte Blanch on impeachable offenses close to his last day in office but it's greater than 10 days.

Is that the precedent we want to set? How close to leaving office is a President immune from consequences?

No Person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Multiple, irrefutable, documented instances where the President of the United States committed incitement of insurrection on live TV, in front of audiences that he invited for the express purpose of committing insurrection.

Any Congressperson who doesn't vote to impeach and convict him are guilty of violating their Oath of Office, and specifically the above clause.

They should all be expelled after this.

Boebert is insane.

How these people can keep standing up and saying "Biden will be president in a week; move on, unify!" are absolutely beyond me.  The president whipped up a mob and sent them right to their offices. Multiple people are dead and now we see our capitol, the people's house, surrounded by cops and soldiers.

Republicans clearly have no spine or integrity.

This theater is a waste of time. Everyone knows how they are voting. Just hold the vote.

2021-01-13 2:22:41 PM
I want to hear the ones who vote against impeachment because they must be voted out of office, never to hold public office again.

2021-01-13 2:22:46 PM
I've had to mute every goddamn Republican so far. I was sick of their lies, insults, and threats before, but now each and every one makes my blood pressure shoot up and eyes see red. Lord grant me the restraint to not shoot them and merely pistol whip every tooth from their head.

Okay, next time we dont stop the mob, howabout that?

Next time, we make sure that one hero who directed the mob away from the Senate floor is on a well deserved vacation, tell the cops not to barricade the doors, and you can just tell them you're one of the good guys.

Or Get the f*ckers on record opposing impeachment a second time and then have a daily purge of the Republicans worst offenders.

Jordan opened up talking about "cancel culture" because he knows what he's done for 4 years (no, not the rape stuff, the Trump stuff, which may or may not also include rape)

Not to say that the point isn't valid but if I hear "against all enemies, foreign and domestic" I'm going to watch The Rock for the billionth time and take a drink every time the screen starts shaking.

I'm uncomfortable where this precedent will lead.  I have a feeling someone is going to end up impeaching Lincoln or some damned thing.

Removal from office to prevent any further insurrection/insanity.  Also, sets an example.

Well, that's it. Now I'm seriously on the fence about voting for Donald Trump.

I support impeachment but not removal. I really want to see the Republican party to try to fly with this albatross around their necks.

It's that they wanted the terrorists to win so they could impose permanent right-wing dictatorship.

Also also, bar him from holding office in the future.  2024 isn't so far away, and his cult will still be out there.

I don't understand why the Republicans are doing this. It doesn't do anything but hurt them politically. I guess they realize it's over and they're burning it down.

2021-01-13 2:29:37 PM

misanthropicsob: Has there been a Republican speaking on the floor in support of impeaching the president?

No. They're a cabal, and they work only in their own self interest. But, they're also proving today they'd rather die than go against those interests. They hold loyalty to the cabal above literally everything else.

2021-01-13 2:29:47 PM
The Republicans that are still telling the lies that radicalized the American-right are the enemies of our democracy. They've refused to do the right thing, because the rabid voters they brainwashed would turn on them. They have no spines, and no morals.

I haven't seen one yet but I havent been able to catch it all.  But I'd be curious if Jordan would even allow the time.  There are R's in Congress who have said they will vote to impeach

/Goddamned job is getting in the way of listening to it all
