Vince Clarke ( Depeche Mode, Yaz, Erasure) lived in Maine for about 10 years.  Recorded an Erasure album in his home studio as well while there.

That's kinda nuts. It doesn't get much more rural anywhere than Pikeville, TN, nestled in the ridges and gorges of the beautiful Cumberland Plateau.

Agreed, the clumsy boots may not be comfortable. He's still playing gigs as well.

When it mentioned the podcast, I wonder if it was done without permission and the owner of the boxes got pissed and took them back (after possibly forgetting they even existed after all those years)?

I had reason to revisit that song recently.  Holy shiat, is it simultaneously wonderful and awful.  And the video magnifies both of those extremes.

Adam Ant, tired of busy city life in London, moves to a house in Pikeville, TN, nestled in the ridges and gorges of the beautiful Cumberland Plateau. After living there for few months, his nearest neighbor, a big, hairy guy living few miles away, comes to visit him for the first time.
"There will be a party tonight at my place, are you interested?" asks the neighbor. Adam, already a bit bored of his quiet living, says "Okay, why not."
"There will be some dancing and singing there," informs the neighbor.
"It's okay, I can sing," Adam answers.
"And know that there will be heavy drinking too."
"That's not a problem either, I haven't had a drink since I moved here."
"There might be fighting too," says the neighbor.  "I've seen some at these parties."
"Uh, okay, I think I can live with that," he says.  Rough crowd, the thinks, but I can handle it.
"There will be some wild sex."
"Now that's good, I haven't got laid in ages!" he says, getting all excited about it.
"So I can count you in?" asks the neighbor.
"You bet you can," Adam says enthusiastically.
"Okay, so it's a deal. Tonight at my place", says the neighbor and turns to go away.
"Wait, one last thing!" he yells after the neighbor. "How should I dress?"
"Oh, doesn't matter, just gonna be the two of us."

Had a friend and his next door neighbor was in a band.

when they met, my said he was a drummer in a local semi-famous band.  The other guy said he was too.  then proceeded to ask my friend how big a crown did he ever play for.  Him, opening for Jefferson Starship, said bout 20,000.  feeling good about that number he asked his new neighbor.  He paused and responded, "I think it was about 130,000."

He was the drummer for REM

That was interesting, to know he went all incognito, under the radar, and just lived life. Sounds like he would be a good neighbor. It's nice that he could have quiet and normal when he wanted it.

I went to GenCon several times in the 1990's.  One evening I was playing Axis & Allies with a small group, and a bunch of guys in foam and rubber armor came waddling up.  They were mad, and yelled at the guy playing Britain "We're supposed to be ON STAGE.  Lets go."

Turns out he was the lead singer for GWAR (1993 maybe?).
I wish I'd known at the time.

Things I have learned in the past week: That's Phil Collins on drums. Yes, that Phil Collins who also had a hand in the production.

I remember going to see Nine Inch Nails in Worcester during the Downward Spiral tour.  Jim Rose Circus Sideshow was the opener.  Big bonus was it gave NIN a big long span of time to do their thing.

During the encore he brought out Adam Ant to sing "physical."  The entire arena said collectively "Holy, shiat!  He's still alive?"

That was around the time he played drums on and produced "I Know There's Something Going On" for Frida.

I've been a huge fan since he came on the scene when I was in university.  He and Marco Pirroni made some great albums. My fave Ant song will always be Baby, Let Me Scream at You

Get in get on get down get off
Get up get dressed get out
And if you find a better way
Pick up the phone and shout
