There was an article, I think in the Atlantic, about how these seditionists didn't realize exactly what the Deep State was in reality, and now they're gonna find out.

Funny, there was just Twitter strategy that Trump was going to appoint General Raymond as his new VP replacing Pence. Wonder if they'll still be saying that after seeing his signature on this letter.

Yeah, I know it doesn't work that way, but if Trump doesn't accept that losing an election means not being President anymore, why would he accept that he doesn't get to hire and fire the VP?

TFMemo: "On January 20, 2021, in accordance with the Constitution, confirmed by the states and the courts, and certified by Congress, President-elect Biden will be inaugurated and will become our 46th Commander in Chief."

I think it was wise of them to phrase it a way that not even an insurrectionist could misinterpret.

I speculate that when they were drafting the memo, they realized that there would be people who would try (in bad faith) to debate the meanings of plain language like "confirmed by the states" and "[confirmed by] the courts" and "certified by Congress" meant.

For that reason, I also think it's incredibly sad that they had to dumb it down to words that not even an insurrectionist could misinterpret.

There was an open letter earlier today that was posted that they don't understand what the "Deep State" is. They are finding out fairly quickly what it is thanks to pissing off lifetime bureaucrats.

Over 100 arrests already to hold them. Come after the 20th they can face Garlands' AG force.

I wager that all of these low life traitorous scum currently arrested and charged will get less than 3-5 on pleas.

Democrats are totally spinless in this, and they're just contributing to the onslaught to what will happen in 2022 and 2024.

This letter is a REALLY big deal, I think.  Seems to me that hey are preemptively declaring any orders from Trump illegal, or at least to be carefully considered.

And they've made it clear that these actions amount to an insurrection, so have officially declared in military-brass bureaucracy-ese that any further farking around will result in finding out.

And they ALL signed it.

Milley's letter before the election may have been more fundamentally important, but this one is critically functionally important in this moment.

They've been warned.  And Trump's been kneecapped.  And we can all rest a ~little~ easier.

Good. Now invoke the Fourteenth Amendment and expel the entire Republican Party from our government as the entire party has "engaged in insurrection or rebellion against [the Constitution], or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.".

Motherfarkers need to be reminded that there's more to the Constitution than the Second Amendment.

And, hopefully, giving a very clear indication of what kind of response awaits if these idiots continue their insurrection ("armed protest") as-planned in DC (and at the state capitols).  Not just crowd-control cops with shields and batons, but presumably national guard forces with whatever tools they deem necessary.  Ideally, the presence of thousands of soldiers on standby with guns will make their use unnecessary.

My biggest hope for it going through is that until the 31st there is going to be a shiat load of NG and riot gear going on in a heightened security complex. But, like I said, much as I hope it transfers and stays as smooth as possible for Biden, we will see.

Yup, and any Trumpers in the defense unit that may have been considering trying to not stop the coup attempt are probably re-thinking that right now, because that way lies court-martial if they fail again, which just became 99.999999999% likely.

Of course, this also means that the "protest" will amount to jack shiat. They'll show up and do nothing. But that's good, better than them coming, staging another coup, and good people defending the US getting hurt.

FTA:
The President, meanwhile, insisted on Tuesday that he believes he bears no responsibility for the insurrection carried out by his supporters and has yet to explicitly call on them to refrain from launching another assault on the Capitol.

This by itself should be enough for impeachment, if not invoking the 25th.  Very simply, he is not discharging his duties, protecting the nation from enemies "foreign and domestic".  Whether he likes it or not, this is when the President goes on the tube and says to the people, "We've got this.  We're on these traitors like a duck on crackers".  Saying "It's not my responsibility" was an option that he surrendered more than three years ago (if the Repubs in the Congress have memories that stretch back that far).

Non-retired veterans can only shop at the PX online, which means no booze or smokes.  Cheap stuff at PX prices otherwise, but not alcohol and tobacco (or food, no online commissary orders either)

Someone, at some point, probably has had to.

Remember when Trump was so outraged early on when Federal Judges started putting injunctions on his orders?  I'll bet someone had to explain to him that he can't fire Federal Judges either.

I remember back during the transition 4 years ago that, in passing, his transition team said they wanted a change to the laws to make it much easier to fire Federal employees, basically gutting due process/merit system protections for civil servants.  That went nowhere because the GOP in Congress saw that as a bridge too far (although they did weaken those protections substantially for the Veteran's Administration). . .but it made it clear that Trump wanted carte-blanche to fire anyone he could and replace them with anyone he wanted.

I won't lie I was worried until I got to that part. Some Qidiot could have read the first part as actually supporting them. After all they believe the election was stole and they are simply righting the wrong and bringing justice. Plainly they are delusional but at the same time having the attack spelled out as insurrection and sedition and explicitly stating support for the transition of power has definitely helped my mood and peace of mind.

I will not lie, the lack of statement since the 6th had severely damaged my calm.

When did that changed for non retired veterans ? When I was at AAFES it was only active duty reserve and retirees. AAFES employees couldn't even shop there til roughly 1990 (Second gen AAFES grew up not being able to shop there even though my dad was the manager)
