Excellent.

They also told him that people he pardoned could then testify against him and that's probably why to.

If only we could hear his thoughts on this subject, 140 misspelled characters at a time

"So I'm gonna yank their pardons!  Now they won't testify against me!"

I'm okay with this.

Let him self-pardon.  It will be meaningless and funny.

2021-01-12 9:07:16 AM
And he's too much of a narcissist to resign and let Pence pardon him.

Oh that's a shame.

HAHAHAHA! I **KNEW** IT!

I knew that once the Coup Klutz Clan rally went badly, he'd pull this shiat. "If I'm going down, all y'all are going down," is a Trumpian trademark.

I'm sure the potus* is most pleased to have himself compared to OJ, lol.

Those terms are acceptable.

Like Pence can be reliably counted on to pardon Trump after having to call in the NG when Trump couldn't be bothered.

I'd love to have something other than Trump's petulance keeping Trump's glad-handing at bay... but I will take it.

FTFA: It isn't clear Trump actually has the authority to pardon himself - no president has ever tried

If a president can pardon himself, then criminals should be allowed to determine their own sentence.

labman: They also told him that people he pardoned could then testify against him and that's probably why to.

Oh my GOD if he "hereby pardoned" people and didn't actually sign the paperwork...

Actually... on second thought...

This could be him trying to force them to try again, and this time really put their backs into it. Guess we'll find out in the next week...

"The president has been warned, David, by some of his lawyers that if he goes ahead and pardons himself, he could be more vulnerable to civil lawsuits, including from some of those injured in the Capitol riot, because a self-pardon would be seen as an admission that he did something wrong that he would need to be pardoned for,"

HAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!

What a shame.  Poor guy.

2021-01-12 9:12:12 AM
Good.  Let Biden make pardons for people who actually deserve them.

2021-01-12 9:12:46 AM
GOOD. That means no pardons for the capitol rioters.

2021-01-12 9:13:09 AM

According to TFA it wouldn't be meaningless. It opens him up even more to civil lawsuits since a self-pardon would be seen as an admission of guilt.

So he's the anti-Oprah?

2021-01-12 9:15:32 AM
Oh man if only someone had told those insurrectionists that he has a history of not giving people what he said he would give them.

Fine move, good sir.

BeansNfranks: FTFA: It isn't clear Trump actually has the authority to pardon himself - no president has ever tried

The bigger issue is that he's most likely to face civl lawsuits, and not only would a self-pardon do nothing to protect himself from them, it would actually make him more susceptible because the pardon is an admission of guilt.

I'm too lazy to look up a list of people pardoned so far by that asshole, but they all seem to fit in a few narrow categories:

1. Those who got caught committing crimes on his behalf, but did not attempt to flip on him
2. War criminals
3. Seditious anti-government assholes

So I guess what I'm saying is, should he pardon no one else, Good.

2021-01-12 9:19:42 AM
Sounds about right

2021-01-12 9:19:43 AM

MattytheMouse: GOOD. That means no pardons for the capitol rioters.

Trump no doubt sees them as losers as they failed in their attempt to overthrow the US Government. Not only did they not take out Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi, the Senate was able to certify the election. Failed insurrection. Low energy. Sad!

Tell ya what, how about a compromise? We lock all you scumbag traitors in a small room with no windows and a single knife. Last one left standing gets a full pardon.

Today is the day.  If he were to resign for a Pence pardon, it would be today before they can impeach him again.

Can he revoke the pardons he already gave?

You know he wants too

I guess meaningless in terms of protecting him and very funny for many reason such as what you pointed out.

LOL

He needs a new lawyer.

His lawyer: "Sir, if you pardon yourself, you could be sued!"

A real lawyer: "Sir, pardoning yourself is the only way you may not go to prison. SCOTUS may decide it doesn't stick, but you don't have any other options."

They are the best people.

Don't forget he sicced his dogs on Pence, he can't be sure Pence would pardon him

And if the shoe was on the other foot he wouldn't pardon Pence so in his mind Pence WILL NOT pardon him

Seems like Pence could pardon the "button man" who took care of it.

Or clear a path for a nut-case like they did with Hinckley and Sirhan
