Hello, I am a patriotic supporter of President Donald Trump

You lost me in the first sentence. Which is it: patriotic, or a supporter of Trump? Those are mutually exclusive.

One is support of your country and its Constitutionally established government, and the other is support of a criminal and would-be dictator.

2021-01-12 8:50:38 AM
You're not a "patriot" if you support Trump.  You're a mindless drone worshipping an idol.

That's where you have to read passages and understand them. Bold of you to assume we read the articles at all.

I was fooled up until the part at the end where he described his favorite recipes for serving working-class Irish children to British aristocrats.

Sedition is bad, no matter how much you tell yourself you were just there for a fun day in the Nation's Capitol and you didn't really mean it, you just got caught up in a moment.  There are lots of people who ruined their lives with one bad decision.

We all have to stop saying "pro-trump."

Say it with me.... "Republican".

This was an insurrection in favor of the head of the republican party, in his capacity as head of the republican party, with republican leaders pursuing the same goals, at the same time, on the floor of both houses of Congress, AND in 60+ court cases around the country.

This was an organized effort by the entire party, not just some fringe on the edges. It was supported by multiple major presidential candidates.

Respectfully, I disagree.  There should be nothing good about the 10-year stretch they serve.  I would also be happy if they were sentenced to a C1-C2 stretch instead of the 10 years.

That was some pretty basic, low-cost, clumsy satire there, Trib.

The part that bothers me are the people who are genuinely whining (no, not the article writer, I did read it) about losing their jobs and their freedom to fly on planes. Yeah, in most countries, taking part in open insurrection gets you the firing squad.

American individualism in a nutshell. "My beliefs are just as valid as your facts."

Article's sarcasm was laying it on a bit thick. Brevity is the soul of wit.

Remember that there are two Americas. For every crazy republican, there is 1.09 reasonable decent people who believe science and want to be part of the rest of the world.

One bad decision?!   It took a lot of bad choices to be in that crowd in the first place.

Please can we hold a seance and consult the ghost of Jonathan Swift? I think that we are living in the most Swiftian Era there's been since Gulliver's Travels was written. And Swift is the political philosopher that best exemplifies the role of comedy talk shows in US politics.

I've made a point to do exactly this as well. I don't even use "Conservative" - these people are all republicans, they vote Republican, and the Republican politicians ALL support this. All Republican politicians have been complicit in this for the last 4 years, either implicitly or explicitly. A hall pass vote for a bill that's going to pass anyway doesn't buy you any credit. You all enabled this, you all enabled him, you are all responsible for what has happened and continues to happen.

Tyranny would be what could have happened last Wednesday if certain folk had succeeded.

What we have instead is principled governance guided by the hands of better people.

The question becomes which would you prefer? I willingly turn my back on tyranny. I hope some of you will stand with me.

Hello, I am a patriotic supporter of President Donald Trump who broke into the U.S. Capitol and attacked police officers because I believed the election was stolen and it was my duty to overthrow the government using only a flagpole I picked up along the way and the horns on the cool viking helmet I wore.
I am now being told I have lost my job and might go to prison. This is an absurd, Orwellian trampling of my First Amendment rights, according to a person I follow on Twitter.

This definitely goes in to my new book:  Fark Around and Find out for Dummies.

And it appears many(most?) of them are going to double down on the 17th
