The proper answer to that was "Neither... Chicago Tavern Style thin-crust FTW".

Finally, we can get back to the real trouble maker, Mr. Fancy mustard on a burger guy.

I bet he put arugula on that shiat, too.

Well, he's not wrong about the practicality. Jimmy fails by not offering tavern square cut that most Chicagoans prefer.

Fact: Chicago deep dish is the second best pizza on the planet. After New York pizza.

Again? Fine, again. Deep dish is for tourists. NY style is for the garage floor when you're changing your oil.

Now ima go finish off my Christmas care package of Italian beef for lunch.

Provel tastes like the industrial runoff that it, in fact, is, and without that it's not really a distinctive style?

Where did this myth begin, exactly? I've spent nearly my entire life in Philly and Boston, so it pains me to pay NYC a compliment, but the vast majority of their pizza is excellent. And if it's not everyone's preferred style, that criticism is not based on any actual trend. Yet I see a comment like yours in every Fark pizza thread.

Most corner pizza shops in Manhattan or Brooklyn are serving up a solid slice, and I truly don't get this idea that NYC pizza is greasy or resembles cardboard in any way, shape, or form.

There's enough legitimate reasons to lay snark upon NYC, but pizza quality is a dumb one.

Nobody cares what kind of pizza he likes.  Besides, his favorite beer is Bud Light so his tastes are questionable at best.

lol, just google the best pizza in the United States.  Frank Pepe's will come up on the top five if not #1 in nearly every list.

To answer your question, it's a white clam pizza.  Clams-garlic, oregano, Pecorino-Romano and drizzled with olive oil.  New Haven style is thinner and crispier than the thin crust NY style.

lol, I had to go to that place years and years ago.  I cannot remember for the life of me what the pizza tasted like unlike Frank Pepe's which I can distinctly recall even after nearly four decades.

Chicago's iconic food.  I did find a place in the Portland, OR area that did a good job, then I moved to Salem.

Screw the deepdish pizza and chicago-style hotdogs.

Correct.

I'll add in, there are kind of two "versions" of it, one does have a somewhat "traditional" crust w/o any sauce or anything, in which the middle pieces are definitely where to go.

The photo I put up, you don't really have a crust around the edges, and you just get a bit over-cooked crispy cheesy edge that is pretty dang good in and of itself.

New York for a quick bite where time is a factor.

Chicago deep-dish when you have time to sit down and eat leisurely.

Only been to NYC once, and I can't remember where I had pizza.
Been to Chicago several times, and it's Lou Malnati's or Giradano's for the best.

oh, lawd. last night we were ordering delivery, and as an option on the cheesesteaks was "add hotdog" - new to me, lol! who in the even hell does...
another weird thing Philly apparently likes is hotdogs... add fishcake?!

/the bickering is always a good time!
