I don't know much about her career but I know Sublime did Summertime/Doin' Time a whole lot better.

Assuming the outrage is from Twitter, you need to realize those people have nothing better to do.

That's why they're on Twitter.

It's the internet.  ICMBs could be en route to every single nation on the face of the planet, and the Internet Outrage Machine would continue to churn along.

Not gonna lie, I liked a bunch of Born to Die.

That said, everything about this article is dumb.

I've seen a lot of baseless outrage. This is of the most baseless. And farking stupid.

Lana Del Rey is evidence that you can just have your dad buy you a music career.  All it takes is enough payola to promote a song.

If you're not famous yet, get a richer dad.

The correct and only response to people like this is "Fark you".

Never give an inch. No matter how much you try to appease them, it will never be enough.

I like Lana Del Rey, but she is way too sensitive. Stan twitter is extremely toxic,

Idiots whining over an album cover is dumb and all, but don't up the ante on the stupid by breaking out the "some of my best friends are ...."  or "do you know how many rappers I've banged"   tropes.

You can't be "edgy artistic" and also "overly apologetic." Those two things are oil and water.

The complaints on this must be trolling. And they won.

They even called out her lace facemask, which appears to have been intentionally included in the cover art.

Ok, I'm not a fan, but it's not like she has no talent. She certainly doesn't have anything to prove, IMO she has a pretty solid track record at this point. She's not any more up her own ass than Amanda Palmer, Tori Amos or Fiona Apple either, all of whom are crazier than shiathouse rats.

I don't care whether she has talent or not.  I just think she's what a square thinks a cool person looks like. I realize that this is condescending and elitist.

Pretty much, and just about any pop musician nowadays has thousands, if not millions, of equally under-stimulated simps who will defend their "queen", creating never ending cycles of worthless arguments on social media and message boards.

Despite subby's clickbait headline, the article itself cites no criticism of the photo. There's only Lana's ham-handed attempt to get out ahead of any potential criticism.

And in the interest of equal time, these guys (plus Alan Thicke's kid) have #1 songs for simply being famous people's kids. For as wholly uninteresting as Lana Del Ray is, at least she never did this with her career:

Any complaint about a period piece not having enough minorities or women when there weren't any in such a setting in the real world would not involve such is bullshiat.

That being said, there are times when such complaints are warranted.  I nominate the new sitcom Mr. Mayor, starring Ted Danson as a newly elected mayor of Los Angeles in modern times.  It seems to have a nearly all-white cast, with the exception of one mixed race (black/white) actress, when, in real life, any LA government office would be majority minority, especially with lots of hispanics (none of which seem to be present).

Has Lana del Rey written at least one song about her menses?  Because if not, she's nowhere near Tori Amos' level of crazy.

/Autocorrect wanted to change it to "Lada del Rey"

Seriously, who farking cares what's on your "album cover" when it's 99% digital delivered content anyway.  Also her songs are well written, she and Phoebe Bridgers still haven't worn out their welcome with me.  Convince me I'm wrong.
