Barry is my favorite show since Breaking Bad ended. I''d be hard pressed to name a series or movie that does a better job of executing both drama and comedy. There's a reason Bill Hader and Henry Winkler both won Emmys for their roles.

It's very exciting news that scripts for seasons 3 and 4 have been written.

Noho Hank makes that show great

The "Introductory to Puppetry" sketch might be the only funny thing Seth MacFarlane has ever been part of.

Stefon is the only recurring WU character besides Gumby that never really got old. Harder and Mulaney were absolutely magic with that character.

The person in the comments nailed it: Hader has this weird quality where he seems awkward as hell in real life, but loosens up immensely when playing a character. Going from Stefon to The Californians to the alternately reserved and furious Barry has made him one of my favorite actors.

For Barry fans, see if you can track down "Patriot" (originally an Amazon thing). If you haven't seen it, it has a similar sensibility, though a bit darker. I just binged it last week and was blown away.

I *really* miss Barry...it's one of the best shows on TV.

Bill Hader is also my favorite character on Bob's Burgers: Mickey the bank robber. Can't wait for more Barry.

In a thing he did with John Mulaney, Hader said that they really let that character have free reign with that he says and does, to the degree that he's improved a LOT of his lines on the show.  That begs the question though...was that amazing monologue that he gives as the Colombians(?) are pouring the gas on the bus while all the Chechens are breaking out written, or free-styled?  (I don't have the temperament of a gangster...more the temperament of a dental hygienist)

If that was improved, that guy should never have to audition for another role again, that was a genius monologue.

Bill Hader is one of our finest voice actors and a brilliant comedian.
" this thing cannot be safe for children!"

Barry: "Am I evil?"
Noho: "Ohmigod, I mean, absolutely! Do I not tell you that enough? You are, like, the most evil guy I know!"

Pure gold. I was dying.

I also like the bad things Bill Hader is in

During the interview, Hader talked about this weird-ass sketch with Beiber and the set falling over.
This is it. Bonus, after the sketch, Hader and the two writers go over the whole thing in a commentary and talk about everything that went wrong. And so much went wrong!

I was about to say pretty much the same. Barry is a fantastic show, but Patriot might be my favorite show, ever. So much so that I'm fine with there being no plans for a third season. It's perfect, leave it where it is.

I'm sure there's a framework at the very least, and likely an actual script, but clearly the script is flexible:

HADER: Yeah. The editors and I also really love the scene on the roof with Hank dancing. When he says, "My guys sucks balls." And the guy says, "You're the king of suck balls mountain" (laughs). That line as scripted was, "My guys are shiat." And the guy goes, "Well, if we're shiat, then you're the king of shiat mountain." And that shows what kind of great actor I think Anthony Carrigan is. Troy, the guy who plays Akhmal, he knew he had to repeat whatever he said. So on one take, he said, "My guys suck balls." He gave Troy a really funny line because he was like, "Well, if I suck balls, then you're the king of suck balls mountain." And we all lost our minds. We all started laughing. Troy and Anthony, that's like two actors just totally listening to each other and trying to make the other person look good, you know?

I believe it was the 6th episode of the 2nd season of Barry... if you've never watched Barry and want to know if you'll like it... pop that episode on.  It's pretty much entirely self contained and you really don't need a ton of context as to what's going on.

It's an extremely R-rated comedic episode where Bill Hader and Steven Root's characters get absolutely terrorized by a very young girl (amongst many other hilarious things).  Check it out.  It's probably the funniest episode of any show, ever.

When I was watching that episode, I was laughing my **ass** off, and saying out loud to myself "this is SO dark!"  Maybe one of the best experiences I've ever had watching an episode of television. :)

/Don't be a Hader!

My husband never understood my obsession with Bill Hader (I absolutely LOVE Stefon) until the "What's My Name" skit.  My husband is the only boy of 6 kids they were raised by their single mother.  He is a huge feminist.  When Hader goes, "Camera 3, push in on me: I would LISTEN." he fell off the couch laughing.  It's not just the line, it's that perfect delivery.

Now he's as hooked on Barry as I am.

IMHO, Eddie Murphy in a foam costume repeatedly yelling "I'm Gumby, dammit!" got very old, very quickly.

been watching off and on through the decades, mostly off, but when I did watch and Hader was in the skit he always killed....maybe could have been great character actor, he could turn it up or turn it down.
