King cakes are boring. There, I've said it. And you can't even put the plastic baby IN the cake anymore.

I've chomped down on a plastic baby, a dime and a bead bracelet in Nola. Locals love it when they get ya! Glad I still have my toofs.

Its a giant cinnamon roll. Thats all it is. You take a cinnamon log, cut it in half, then split each half but leave the ends connected, and squish it into an oval. Bake it and add icing, colored sugar and beads

Most of the time, yes. Dry, overcooked. Either too sickly sweet or not sweet enough.

That being said, they are occasionally fantastic.

But even when boring, let's be honest, you're going to eat it. Because Mardi Gras.

Someone sent in a king cake to my office a couple years ago. First time I had it since high school. I'll have it, but it would never be my first choice.

/1st choice of desserts/sweets in NO, bread pudding soufflé at Commander's Palace
//2nd choice Bananas Foster
///3rd beignets, but I preferred them at Morning Call over Cafe du Monde
