I wish there was a Trader Joes near my house so I could get a bottle of Col. E.H. Taylor bourbon.

I found a bottle of the small batch recently. The owner of the place even pulled out a bottle of Weller and asked if I wanted it. Then he left me a message a few days later and things got out of control.

"Tamnavulin Speyside Single Malt Scotch Double Cask ... Aged in American oak and sherry casks, its dark-amber liquid now stands on its own as a smooth-drinking entry-level single-malt, with toffee-coated apple notes, chocolate, and a lemony brightness that's enjoyable, if not necessarily profound."

I just recently discovered "Uncle Nearest 1856". It is a seriously good whiskey. Terrific, complex flavor and smooooooth.

I'm going to have to check that one out.  The Balvenie - Sweet Toast of American Oak is really nice as well if you're going for that.

I love the peated scotches during the cold/holiday months.

If you can't spring for Yamazaki 12, you can do The Tottori - Bourbon barrel.  It's a blend but quite smooth and flavorful.  Personally, for Christmas/cold season, I like the Nikka Coffey Grain...but good luck finding some.

For American, try a bottle of Smoke Wagon (Burbon).  They just had a huge distribution so your local store may have some.

I ran into a guy (socially distanced) a few months ago who told me that same thing.  He had also toured the Macallan distillery and said it was overly fancy.

Interesting. I love doing brewery and winery tours but have never been to a distillery. I mean low chances I end up in Scotland over the next decade, but it ain't zero so if I do, I will have to check that all out.

You...lucky sonuvabiatch

I got really lucky this year. The Blanton's and the Michter's Toasted barrel I found back in October, and assumed that'd be it. I don't bother dealing with secondary bullshiat prices, and I don't jump through social media hoops in order to enter lotteries.

Next thing I know I'm staring at a farking unicorn box and trying to decide the best way to allocate my cash.

Just a thing for the other farkers in the thread, but I do recommend signing up for Maker's Mark ambassador if it is still available. They seem to always send a gift at Christmas. Over the years, I've received a full outfit for my bourbon.

I probably should be for as much as that stuff I used to drink.  Now I'm on a little cheaper option with Buffalo Trace.

Missouri's still a red state, but they don't have McConnell and do have Wood Hat, which makes easily my favorite bourbon from any state.

Haven't bought a Tennessee or Kentucky whiskey since 2017.  Irish, Canadian, Scotch, the occasional Japanese.

Don't think I'll go back.  Sorry, America.  You lost my (substantial) booze dollar.

Nwver had anything as smooth and amazing as Willett.

Except for some sotches. But I have a personal and local bar ban from the scotch. That's when the bad things happen.

Hit the liquor store every week and ask them for some Eagle Rare until they get it in then buy it.  Willett had the same problem for a while but they ramped up distribution so it stays on the shelf a little longer.  Willett is great but I think Eagle Rare is better.  I was buying it before it was really popular but this year - when a case comes in, it's gone in a couple of hours.

/I keep both stocked
