The memorial is right on a well traveled part of the greenbelt that has a lot of people on it, even in December.  Unless someone was there at 4 am, any hammering or loud destruction would have been called in quickly by someone passing by.

And whether or not these were "real nazis" is a dumb battle to fight.  There's a lot of white nationalism still here in Idaho just bubbling under the surface.  BLM rallies found that out real quick this summer.  Whoever did this was stupid, but the larger point is that it is still a problem here that needs to be snuffed out.

I agree with that.

But still if these were card carrying nazis there would have been actual damage. Fire, paint, etc.

Not some stickers and flyers.

This was a very juvenile act.

We had an incident in the neighborhood about six months ago when someone painted something Nazi like on a wall can't remember what was written but it didn't ring true with me so I googled neo Nazi tags and after looking at real Nazi tags I questioned wether it was Nazis and of course that made me a Nazi apologist. Lol.

fragMasterFlash: A little town in northern Idaho called Hayden Lake made national news as a nazi haven about 40 years ago. Seem like Idaho has gotten no closer to becoming woke since then.

Also, a seventh day Adventist summer camp.

Yeah pounding on  that memorial with spray paint cans would be loud. I'm not sure but I but two Nazis could do real damage to a memorial in 60 seconds.

I used to live in Valley Center, CA with a bunch of 80's punks.  We would gather up jars of black ants and jars of red ants and have ant wars.  When we got bored we would toss things like crickets and katydids into the maelstrom.  Nothing ever survived.

Where do you stand on 'reservoir'?

Because there's a suburb of that name in Melbourne, apparently the residents pronounce it 'reserv-war' while everybody else says 'reserv-wah' - or vice versa. I have no idea if the place actually exists or where it is but you hear about car crashes & thing happening there on the news,

I remember a time in the late 80s to early 90s when Coeur d'Alene was like the headquarters of the white supremacists. I lived in Casper, Wyoming and I saw cowboys who beat gays and left them to die hanging on fenceposts spitting on the skinheads that were moving in from Idaho.

Can you show me on the Emmett Till sign map where the nearest apartment complexes and Trader Joe's are?

Some POS put the the Nazi crap on the memorial, that's Occam's razor.  All these mental gymnastics you and Joker are performing to say it wasn't a real Nazi and everything else is unnecessary noise.  The Wassmuth Center for Human Rights isn't relying on huge amounts of foot traffic to fund their goals. The important thing to take away here is that they've found a great way to completely convince themselves that the liberals that exist only in their heads are as terrible as Idaho neo-Nazis actually are, and it might actually convince people who are even dumber than they are.

Just so I have my scorecard correct.  According to Trik, bullet holes in a sign in the middle of absolute farking nowhere equals = could be sign of Nazis, even though signs in the middle of nowhere often get shot up by bored yokels

But Nazi propaganda placed on an Anne Frank memorial in a downtown urban area has to be the work of kids because real Nazis would have destroyed it with a tank or busted out the spray paint.  If you know so much about how real Nazis operate, please elaborate and post the manual.

The memorial is in a highly trafficked area.  BSU is kitty corner to it, it's right on the greenbelt and people are passing it constantly in cars and on foot from 530 am to midnight.  Even spray painting it would have drawn attention.  I suppose a real Nazi TMcould have brought in a Howlitzer at 3 am and gotten out without being caught, but again, you're ignoring the most likely scenario which is a racist POS defaced the memorial.  Sorry this really bothers you.

I've debated w some neonazis on 4chan and man oh man they're sooooo dumb. They just dont know what they're talking about, about anything.

I like to ask:

Why are you pro nazi, the nazis were a catastrophe for Germany.  When the nazis came to power, Germany was the most technologically advanced country in Europe, arguably the world, with one of the highest per capita incomes and life expectancy rates anywhere.

by the time the nazis lost power, 80% of germany had been reduced to rubble, most of its architectural heritage destroyed. 5million of its men were killed in combat, millions others homeless, 500k civilians dead. Life expectancy rates plummetted, the country was destitute literally throwing itself at the mercy of its enemies to not have massive famine. 25% of its prewar territory, provinces that had belonged to German nation states for centuries and had immense historical and cultural value to the Germans were ethnically cleansed of their residents, the provinces permanently given to their neighbors, and the cultural icons erased. Koenigsberg, Breslau, Danzig... gone from the menagerie of German cities forever. The reputation of Germany was soiled for 3 generations, and the remaining part of the country occupied by its enemies for 50 years. Incalcuable wealth and human capital wasted. And this is only what the nazis did to their own country, much less its neighbors.

So, despite all that, you want to emulate these guys because they had nice flags and uniforms? How farkin' dumb are you?

The note claimed they were "everywhere". This is not true even in Idaho. These pernicious losers have to isolate themselves in smaller communities like Hayden Lake in order to even approach being a significant fraction of the population. Before the internet made long-range coordination easier, these dipshiats tried organizing rallies by mail and phone trees, and were notoriously inept at organizing anything as simple as rally permit.

Back in the 90s, a bunch of Hatin' Lake Idaho nazi-wannabes tried to have one of their white-power rallies in Boise and couldn't get a permit. So they took their message of derp and entitlement on the road. They finally managed to get a permit in Olympia, WA, and were completely overwhelmed by the counter-protesters. They ran away bleating about how they'd shown their power and reach, but never came back.

The ease of communication permitted by the internet has simplified coordination for everyone- including nazi emulators. They can schedule an event and get fellow tiny-minded morons from all over the country to show up and demonstrate their strength in numbers. And they're still outnumbered by spontaneous counter-protesters everywhere they go. Every time. So they have to resort to vandalism and similar clandestine, impotent efforts at "striking back" against furriners, coloreds, jews, uppity wimmen, and all them ivory-tower inallecshuals who are ruining this country for Proud, Gawd-fearin' White Men (PGWM). It's getting so a fella can't roll off his sister, don a white hood and red armband, and set foot outside his double-wide without some anti-fascist neo-hippy threatening to punch his face in.

For people who claim to be the "Master Race", nazi-wannabes are singularly ineffective at ... pretty much everything.

If pointing out "actual" damage has no meaning, then maybe don't point it out.  If you can't realize why an urban area that is heavily trafficked might be a harder spot to vandalize than a field in Mississippi, I can't help you.

Paint is also not physical damage on a metal structure.  It is easily removed.  So as much as you want to quantify what actually counts as damage, it doesn't matter what is "actual" vs what is intended.  If a white person moves into a predominately black area and has "fark you cracker" written on the dirt on the back window of their vehicle, that's damage, despite it being able to be washed off at a moment's notice.  This is about the message, not the delivery system.

And in this instance, had they had spray painted, you'd say well they didn't take a sledgehammer to it.  And if they took a sledgehammer to it, you'd say well it wasn't plastered with swatiskas, could have been anyone with a rage problem.  Stop defending stupid.

I'm not pro nazi. I just don't believe this is the work of actual living the life nazis.
This may be some kinda wannabes or something or some malnurtured kids acting out for pretty much the reasons you stated.
When nazis act out their works seem to make more of a statement and leave a more permanent mark.

And everything you stated about nazi Germany, I was aware of long long long ago.

Your accusation, without any proof is childish.
Like trump declaring himself the winner of the election.

And I bet you and sign boy would have been stars in the hitler youth group.
Just hungering for the chance to point a finger and make accusations against others just to raise your standing in your group.

neapoi: fragMasterFlash: A little town in northern Idaho called Hayden Lake made national news as a nazi haven about 40 years ago. Seem like Idaho has gotten no closer to becoming woke since then.

Also, a seventh day Adventist summer camp.

I... oh, lawd. herbie* the babby christos upon hims tree, I actually... almost kind of don't-hate those bizarre 7th-day-adventist canned vegulon foods (loma linda, worthington, etc.) - haven't had any in quite some time, and tbh they really only have 2 main ingredients: blandness and sodium. well, also egg-whites. the salisbury steaks I remember being as particularly inoffensive. eh, it was a halfway-decent source of inexpensive protein for a hikikomori.

/*and yes, my phone is still correcting 'jeebus' to 'herbie'
/also this thread really needs more about Amelia Earhart crashing her seeing-eye driving instructor's car into random monuments of Amsterdam

dark brew: Trik: I never said the sign being shot was nazi spoor. I said it was actual damage.
Unlike some stick-ons and flag thingies stuck in the ground The 2nd of which does as much damage as those pink flamingo yard ornaments.

Spray paint is all but noiseless. As quick to apply as stickers and leave a mark that makes a statement.
What was done to that place was probably cleaned up in minutes after the news (first) then police were called and everyone took pictures of it so they can share the nazi menace with everyone else on social media.
Yep, them stickers got y'all clutching some pearls.

I sure hope no one stickers anything in my area.

Real nazis would have really messed the place up.
Paint, sledgehammers, etc.

Bored kids in nowhereville poking a hornet's nest and teeheeing at reactions like here on Fark.

Personally kinda leaning in this direction, too. 17yr old incel printed out some stuff from mom's basement and put it out, coz nazis are like, cool, because they have the best tanks in video games and neat uniforms. And because bad guys.

I'm not pro nazi. ...

um, what are you actually talking about and why you so butthurt? i agreed with you, and then made some points of my own about neo nazis in general.

Sorry, you're right.
It's late, I'm tired and been going back and forth with someone else making accusations and misquoting me and that carried over into my reply to you.

Again, apologies.

I... yeah, I really did not understand those responses to you, either. reading-comprehension, IT IS A THING!

'cos I never for one moment thought that your 2nd-person "you" was aimed at anything other than whatever 4channers you'd mentioned having debated. it was very obvious exactly what you were saying.

and... I mean, I could clearly see it, and I am very-drunk right-meow. (Narrator: no, he really is.)

/then again, my childhood schools were very big on things like context and comprehension, and such as.
//so, you, you I like
///you are now in green as, hmm, RIF (unless you have a better epithet for yourself)
\V oh wait, no, I updated it to RIF drink! feck! arse! girls!

No, you are in Idaho so by definition you're in the middle of nowhere.

Trik: dark brew: joker420: JHC, we are not talking about real Nazis lol, the Nazis of today are neo Nazis and I've never heard of them using flyers as they like to cause real damage like spray paint and hammers not a piece of paper that can pulled off and tossed in the garbage

Trik: Seems like a highschool prank.
Real nazis would have really messed the place up.
Paint, sledgehammers, etc.

I'm on my phone so imagine a bunch of pictures of Hitler Youth. Also picture some young neo Nazis in their jackboots and shaved heads running around.

This isn't a No True Scotsman situation. You can be a juvenile nazi

Shryke: WTP 2: nine stickers in German means no stickers.

stickers, i blame little kids.

i expected spray paint, i am kind of happy it was stickers, as long as they peel off easy.

This. Easily removed stickers does  NOT equal defacing. It's like....I dunno. Classy? Even if it's a swastika?

50% odds this is a bullshiat story,
False flag lefty that simply couldn't actually scum the statue.

They are everywhere.
I'm starting my sticker proof bunker today.
