I think we might be on the same wavelength. The pandemic gave me the perfect opportunity to discover what food does what to me. Then I added all that info up and lost about 40lbs. Sugar and excessive caffeine will double or triple the amount of calories I need/crave in a day. Once I cut sugar out and cut coffee down to one cup a day, I started cruising by on less than 1000cal a day, easily.

30 here and the wife lost 50 doing the same thing. Covid made it easy as we had to cook anyways.

Yeah there are several diet plans which work.  "Slow" carbs rather than low carbs works.  Broccoli, cauliflower, search grocer freezer for blends which taste almost like mashed potatoes.

I have a pepperoni-sausage pizza in the oven. :/

Congrats! I once lost 15kg doing something similar. Eggs and cheese for breakfast. Chicken breast and vegetables for lunch and dinner. Rinse and repeat. Ah, and cutting out Coke Zero.

Basically anything that results in your body working at an energy deficit results in weight loss. Veggies and some fruits get around this by making your body expend more energy extracting the food energy than it gains.
