I've lost 48lbs since July eating no carbs, very little sugar and all the meats and vegetables I want. I have a veritable barnyard in my freezer with cuts of every animal fit to cook. What ever works for you I suppose.

Yeah there are several diet plans which work.  "Slow" carbs rather than low carbs works.  Broccoli, cauliflower, search grocer freezer for blends which taste almost like mashed potatoes.

I have a pepperoni-sausage pizza in the oven. :/

Basically anything that results in your body working at an energy deficit results in weight loss. Veggies and some fruits get around this by making your body expend more energy extracting the food energy than it gains.

Congrats! I once lost 15kg doing something similar. Eggs and cheese for breakfast. Chicken breast and vegetables for lunch and dinner. Rinse and repeat. Ah, and cutting out Coke Zero.

30 here and the wife lost 50 doing the same thing. Covid made it easy as we had to cook anyways.

I think we might be on the same wavelength. The pandemic gave me the perfect opportunity to discover what food does what to me. Then I added all that info up and lost about 40lbs. Sugar and excessive caffeine will double or triple the amount of calories I need/crave in a day. Once I cut sugar out and cut coffee down to one cup a day, I started cruising by on less than 1000cal a day, easily.

Yep. Down 70 this year eating mostly fried rice, lo mien, and ramen. Haven't even started the cardio yet, just counting calories.

Ugh.  Coke Zero and Diet Coke are my main addiction. I had gone a year without drinking any (except in some very rare circumstances where tea wasn't available).  And then stress from work ramped up, and I relapsed.  I really need to try quitting again.

When I quit soda, I was able to drop 50 pounds.  Since then, I've been holding steady.

Every day I eat a T-bone steak, a Slimfast shake, and a box of crayons and I haven't pooped in over a month.  Whatever works for you, I guess.

Why is this strange?

Makes you feel full sooner, for longer because your body has to process it before it can use it.

Simple carbs your body can use straight away, turn you into a furnace or store, then you quickly need more resulting in higher energy consumption in the same time period.

They're literally the foundation of the food pyramid, regardless of its efficacy, it's been known forever.
