gilgigamesh: Alright, this is what we voted for, so it's time to admit it and deal with it. Biden is a gaffe machine, and we are in for four years of him being a rhetorical minefield.

What he clearly meant was that when he was veep, he and Obama had an agreement where he would make an excuse and walk away if they reached a fundamental impasse on governing philosophy. And it'll be the same with him and Harris.

I know that's what he meant. You know it. His Republican enemies know it. But he walked right into that rake, and now we have to deal with the fallout.

We'd best get used to it, because this is gonna keep happening.

What people on the left freaking out about something about democrats and making it a big deal when it's not?

I'm pretty sure that has existed way before Biden.

I can't find the original video but people are saying the audio on this was altered from the original airing and he didn't say that. Anyone watch it live to confirm?

lol, OMG such a gaffe! How embarrassing that Biden said something... uhhhh... not embarrassing at all?

Maybe from the last four years some people are just so used to every little thing coming out of a president's mouth being stone cold idiocy that they aren't used to hearing normal speech yet. They need time to come to terms with change.

Fat fingered the reply button.

He can just step down. Then the VP loses the V and becomes full P.  Most VPs would like that, I bet, but what if they didn't and just wanted to coast as vp?  Their potus would have a sword of damacles over their head for four years.

Of course realized how effing stupid that system of electing the VP was and got rid of it damned fast (after just four elections, only two of which were really contested).

And while, no the VP doesn't technically serve the President, in practice this has been the case. If the VP couldn't work with the President any more it would absolutely be expected that the VP resign.

JFC, the derp of the Reich-wing follow-up to that original tweet is ridiculous.

Snapper Carr: If you want to see a pretty good (albeit fictional) portrayal of a President with an adversarial relationship with his VP. watch the first few seasons of the West Wing.  Bartlett had to put a conservative Democrat from Texas on the ticket and he's constantly sabotaging Bartlett's agenda.  It's always better when POTUS and VPOTUS are on the same page (or at least VPOTUS knows their place)

Which is why President-Elect Biden should appoint trump as the new VP, a sort of compromise to get the rigged election mess cleared up.

trump would keep the prosecution protections from crimes that he currently has, and as VP no one would care that he was golfing every day. Plus trump could hold weekly rallies across the country for his 2024 Presidential run, making it an historical first time a sitting VP ran against a sitting President in an election.

Don't wish ill-health on anyone, but Biden is up there.  Death is probably unlikely, but mental or physical factors could very well cause him to step aside.

I hear and read people giving him lots of flak for gaffes, but I think holds his shiat together remarkably well for 78.  I've met people that age whose life has been reduced to a chair and TV.

From a spectator standpoint, it would be amazing to see Harris accede, if for no other reason than to watch the cultural shockwaves.

Of course.  Any attempt to take over the United States begins begins with securing a large army of alligators that will take free food from anyone trying to stop them.

Just give me like fifteen minutes of warning before the nukes drop.  I'm going to make a fort out of my pillows and blankets.  Maximum protection from nuclear warfare, baby.  Me and my Kaname Chidori body pillow are in this together.

On the contrary, you will be playing real-life on the maximum difficulty level, with no food and no water and pretty much everyone holed out every five or so miles with sniper weapons, shooting and killing people for no practical purpose.

Can't fire, but can make them irrelevant, (except for tie breaking votes in the Senate) by giving them "no portfolio" to handle and then give an Eisenhower/ Nixon style endorsement of
