Yes. Even if, as the article claims, it won't change their behavior, there needs to be a record and an accounting.

Yes.  Then send them to Guantanamo Bay as enemy combatants.

Shame them? I'm way past shaming. We should tattoo them and force them to wear special hats.

2020-12-04 11:59:42 PM
For whatever reason, I was thinking of people taking an island vacation in lieu of visiting family.

Whoops.

It's amusing that you think people who recklessly endanger other people's lives are even capable of shame.

2020-12-05 3:46:37 AM
I choose to just shame the ones who expect ME to travel. I take care of two immunocompromised members of my household. I'm not traveling anywhere.
Saves me energy.  Do I want to be around a potential exposure point for long enough to shame them? I think I would rather do it over the phone to whoever is trying to make me kill the Elders.

"For the thousandth time, I am not traveling to see a farking mother/school teacher! I will not let the small child kill the 86 year old!!! Also, I can't leave the 86 year old alone to travel like that!  Farking homicidal maniac" the more they insisted on me visiting, the more sure I was that I could not see them again until the world changes radically again for me.  (ie when the 86 year old passes away, everyone involved has been vaccinated, and numbers are single digit)

And as a followup, as I posted in a different thread, it's clear by now that arguing with covidiots is about as effective as arguing evolution with creationists.  They're going to believe what they want to believe, regardless of the evidence.

The one who should be shamed is Drew, for allowing the non-stop "debate" to rage here every day.  There are no grounds for debate, and there are only two results: animosity and profit for Drew.

I didn't get to eat even so much as a slice of pumpkin pie this Thanksgiving. I'm undergoing proton therapy DAILY for cancer, and I have no idea who showed up. All I heard was the ruckus in the rest of the house from 2-3 kids which meant at minimum 3-5 additional adults.

I just stayed in my room watching Scrubs and made ramen with my electric kettle and napped.

Goddamn plague rats

So rather than a discussion, you'd prefer absolute censorship? Because if so, Imgur has an open username or two after they farked over TheFreePizzaDude and MrPuckett. Go there and GTFO Fark.

Who do you live with that you have no idea who showed up?

If it is family, are they really such assholes that you (I presume) engaged them about this and asked them to respect your high risk situation, they told you to gfy or something?

That sucks.

When my mom had cancer back in the early 2000s, she didn't leave her third floor bedroom for seventeen days at a time.  Not because of her immune system, but because she didn't have the energy to make it any further than the bathroom.  Treatments for cancer are awful hard on the body, after all, the cancer cells are so similar to the healthy cells that it's had to really target them.

Admittedly, treatments are getting better.  Maybe if we had some of those treatments back then, mom would still be alive.  In the end, the Chemotherapy killed her

You forget--social media is now the barometer of our society. Yes, it does work.
Not in a good way, but it still works.  The only problem is that now the internet has provided all these "victims" places to go where they can find friends, so nobody gets shut down. They just get louder.

Use praise to reinforce the idea for kids.

Adults shouldn't need to be praised for doing something they're supposed to do.

There is no need to shame stupid people, they won't understand. It is like hitting the dog the next day for pooping on the rug.

Fark has been censoring people since its inception for saying things TPTB don't like.  It can do the same with the covidiots because they bring nothing to the discussion but the encouragement of spreading death and disease.

I appreciate the humor of believing me drunk, but it's been years since I've been a drinker.  Unlike, it seems, many of the people on the site who brag about how much drinking they do every day of the week.

No, I've long been acquainted with the idea of confirmation bias.  Just a comment on why arguing/shaming covidiots is useless.
