browneye: But does he want to?

I'd like to think if approached he'd say yes, but that's just my wishful thinking. It all depends on what's going on in his life ...much like Mr. Jennings.

Perhaps it's time for Jeopardy to be retired.

Actually this being fark I figured Weird Al would be the choice.

Doesn't Levar still hold the record for The Weaklest Link? I remember he dominated everyone on that show.

But the question is, does he even want to do it?

I think it's from the people who remember Reading Rainbow. They're used to him reading to them.

And people are trying to come up with someone everyone likes, and there's not a lot to choose from. Tom Hanks probably won't take the job.

There has to be some out of work professional game show hosts around, find one of those, we don't want The LeVar Burton show. Alex Trebek wasn't Alex Trebek until years on Jeopardy, find another pro. How about a woman?

Yes. The Libs will continue to ask for POC to be on TV and turn celebrities transgender/gay until their demands are met.

browneye: But does he want to?

According to TFA he is open to the possibility of guest hosting during the transition. That would be a good way for him to decide if he would want to do it and for producers and audiences to decide if they want him.

I can see it. He is smart, likeable, is familiar to a large age range, and is well known but not so much that he would be the star of the show instead of the game being the star.

Um, no. Because he's personable, engaging, intelligent and entertaining. But do go on.

Well, they said they're going to do a series of interim hosts, starting with Jennings. Seeing as I can't even name anyone else who would be a good host, Burton sounds like a great choice for another interim pick.

/And of course all the interim hosts are candidates to be the permanent one.

And when Burton expresses no interest in hosting, people will be mad at Burton instead of their own dumb projections and wishful thinking.

He is 63. I think he'd do a great job, but the producers would probably be looking for the next host to last 20+ years. I'd be surprised if they hired anyone over 50.

2020-12-05 1:11:49 PM
He would have been a great pick 20 or 30 years ago.

Where did all this LeVar Burton/Jeopardy thing start?  It's so random.  Why not Justin Timberlake, Shaq, David Cross, Leslie Jones, or Jennifer Lopez?  I can do random too.

The Jeopardy host reads questions for the entire show. LeVar Burton is known for reading. It's the opposite of random.

There's a lot of overlap between PBS viewers and Jeopardy fans. When listing soothing cultural icons the it's usually Mr Rogers, Bob Ross, Trebek and Reading Rainbow Levar Burton.

So people made the connection.

Yes we have no women game show hosts anywhere. Weakest link, supermarket sweep- who wants to be a millionaire, press your luck... such a shortage.

I don't really care if I'd heard of the new host before, but there are a few basic criteria;

Pleasing manner
Comfortable on screen and with people
Doesn't have to be super-smart, but at least has to seem above average (you don't want somebody giving the answer and saying, "What?  No Way!")
Don't be a f*cking joker, but be able supply a witty comment now and then
Take it seriously - the contestants and audience do
Have 'command presence' but let the contestants maintain the spotlight - It's not about the host, but you need to keep it running on time

In other words, on the basis of all the above, I'm turning it down

Give Brooke Burns a crack at it. She's the best part of all the pretender shows to Jeopardy's throne.

I wonder if one of the Clue Crew will audition for it.
