Socialism at its finest. Yes, the military is a socialist system.

How else are the CEOs of military contractors going to afford their fifth vacation home?

But how are we going to pay for all that war?  ...asked no one ever.

Priorities, people.

By which I mean people don't seem to be much of a priority to these people.

We have an incoming centrist president, so we need to prepare for a return of America serving as "The World's Police."

Hasn't been voted on in the House or Senate yet (last I checked), and it doesn't include farking over Section 230, so we'll see how it actually goes. Will it pass, or will Trump actually veto it to stiggit to those losers and suckers in the military?

And because military bases will have their names changed from Confederate traitors. There's a few reasons he said he will veto. I don't think anyone has told him he can do this but I predict a pocket veto. He'll unintentionally ignore it

And nothing will change until we get military spending tentacles out of almost every last congressional district in the nation.  Worse than herpes.

$740 billion.  That works out to around $23,465 per second.

Not to make light of it, but- do you really think stiffing folks out of a check or 2 with access to some of the deadliest weaponry nd equipment on the planet is a good idea , yet again ? Especially when their kids school got funds diverted for a wall so they have nothing, and the spouse cannot work due to having to watch the kids, or its a lockdown ?

/I know. I do know.

Coups d'etas have happened for less, and we *really* do not want that.

Congress passed Covid relief in may but it's still sitting in the Senate.

2020-12-04 10:46:56 PM
Right now (for the past 5 year really), everything that Congress does is predicated on what Mitch McConnell allows his chamber to vote on.  This is why Georgia is so important.  Yes, we will still have to deal with conservative Democrats, but putting the GOP in the minority in the Senate will drastically open up the options available to the Democratic leaders and their agenda.

But, being in the military has taught them so many skills! Plus they get to go to any college they want! How can they ever go without?

Funny how the 'librl media ignores the fact that the House passed COVID relief back in October and continues business as usual on other matters, but the Republican-controlled Senate won't even entertain COVID relief (McConnell) but will pass giant military spending bills.  Both sides are bad, y'all!

Since they passed it quickly he can't "pocket veto" it and there's enough votes to override an actual veto.

It's not socialism. Take your rhetoric somewhere else. It's simply the government of the people directing the resources of the country towards the common good of protecting all members. You know socialism the military.

I dislike the "ain't nothing gonna happen" meme, generally, but in this case...

I had a couple government shutdowns during my service, and it was a bit of a PITA, but largely just an inconvenience.  You could still feed your family, creditors would freeze payments, and whenever ted cruz or whatever bag of dicks had finished grandstanding, you would get back pay.

not  sure if serious.jpg

Taught me many, some I can actually use in the real world. More, hell, a lot more if it turns into a mad max style hellscape, but I do not want that.
Im thinking of those young kids / ncos and their families . You expect them to take a second jorb at the 99 cent store when not on duty ?

I get what you are saying, but this time- we have a pandemic and at the same time- funds raided for school construction on bases that could help keep the kids at least learning semi-safely. That was the old- this is sadly the new normal.

Like that would stop his petulant assholery from vetoing it just to make extra work for people. That he would PO the military is irrelevant to him. He doesn't care. He just doesn't care. Congress has to meet & vote again. He doesn't care. That's what they get for crossing him & not doing what he wants. Unless he realizes it's his last chance to sign something with his big boy marker.

I mean, I can't argue a counterfactual, I can only tell you my experience.  I think the military is less likely to revolt than the general population; the unofficial motto is "suck it up & drive on."  But, sure, there are limits.  Morale matters.  Being able to feed your kids matter.  I hope we never have to find out where the limit is.

No. Not all government is 'socialism.'

If you think it is, you're positively silly in the head.

If a sector of the economy receives metric shiathordes of public treasure (resource reallocation) and then turns around and goes profiteering with it, that doesn't make it capitalist.  That makes it corrupt.

The act of profiteering and/or capitalizing on opportunity isn't magically unique to the act of being capitalistic.
