A fistful of assorted dice can be nearly as effective as caltrops. Never underestimate someone with a bulging dice pouch

Hell yeah. They eventually started cropping the ends off of the 4 sideds... so they are not as dangerous as the old ones were...

/unless you happen to be an old gamer...
//and an old fart with several of the old ones...

Great part. I would imagine you had a great time doing it. Stubby Kaye was brilliant.

I have a d12 in my pocket right now.

(Found it in my backpack... gotta return it to my Crown Royal bag when I get home.)

Never played dnd as a kid but took up DMing this year to do something with the entire family. It's definitely a winner and I found out that half the family is Lawful Good and half Chaotic Good.

/I also found out Temptest Clerics are overpowered.

/ Bought Three oversized D20s from a card shop yesterday. They are definitely going in Christmas stockings.

Believe it or not, I have an app for that.  No, really:  https://dpoisn.com/demos/AndroidDev/diceroller/

And yes, I wrote it because I actually needed the app.  It also comes in handy for those times when rolling actual dice is not possible.  Like, on a plane.

Anyway, yeah,,, Tell your friends!

Heh.  One of my first real programs, first done on a TRS-80 in BASIC then ported to a 286 in TurboPascal was a random character generator.   Would do the rolls, look at the stats, list out all the possible classes, etc.  Let you pick a class and then print a basic character sheet. I even updated it when Oriental Adventures came out w/ the new classes.

If you ever want to relive those glory days, learn Python.  You can write all sorts of those types of programs that are just screen dumps line by line.  Over the past few months I've written a Dice Roller, Hangman, and a class for dealing cards.  I used that to created a Hi/Low type of game.

Other than the language being different, it reminds me a lot of what it was like to work in BASIC back in the 80's.

Why Python?  In my case, it was because my son was taking a class to learn it.  I thought it would be good for me to learn the language myself in case he needed help.

Also...  If you are interested in how to write your own Dice Roller, I have a tutorial for that.

It's a surprisingly small chunk of code.  And it works really well...

I got a d100 for giggles and only rolled it once in a game. It was like a golf ball and after we spent 5 minutes getting it out from under a nearby sofa, I chose to retire it

Our DM had us roll a D100 a few months back (a virtual D100, ain't nobody got time to locate where the real ones roll to).  We were buying anti-fire potions before going to face and a dragon.  What we didn't know is the potion-maker wasn't really thorough about cleaning out the previous potions before creating new ones.

Mine wound up essentially making my character on a very loving acid trip.  The looks on their faces when, after we defeated the dragon, my character called "OH NO, is the dragon okay?  I'll just try a healing spell..."

Priceless.

I write code 40-50 hours per week as is in Java/Spring, Angular2/typescript, EGL/VG, and occasionally linux shell scripts or PHP stuff.

Well, alrighty then.  You're already there.

btw, I'm quite fond of Java too.  I was using that before Python.
