I've seen it, it's very good. The historical accuracy of exactly how much ofark's script was Menk's and how much was Welles' is questionable, though.

lol...I got what you were trying to say.

Read this...

Pauline Kael, in her 50,000-word essay "Raising Kane," originally published in The New Yorker in 1971, made a rare fatal blunder by fudging facts and systematically overstating Mankiewicz's contribution to the movie."

That's a nice way to say she tried to do a hatchet Job on Welles....and was eventually found out.

As a concept, it sounds boring as fark.  I actually thought Citizen Kane sucked, so the script writer getting his own movie sounds really lame.

I know. It sucks to be reminded that there are movies that aren't about men in tights going PEW! PEW! PEW!

I haven't seen it and don't have Netflix.

We did just see the black & white The Artist, and I was amazed. What a beautiful film.

It's tough making a movie about writers.  Usually all the driving conflict takes place between the ears of the protagonist and the film maker is reduced to tons of voice-overs, flashbacks, conceptual fantasies, and the writer getting mad/drunk/hopeless or triumphant when (s)he finally finds just the right adjective for the big scene being written.
That being said, Citizen Kane is funny, moving, insightful, gorgeously shot, and beautifully scored.  With Gary Oldman and Fincher, maybe this movie is the one that makes a Writer Movie work.

Watched The Lighthouse last night on Amazon.  It was completely off my radar when it was released, but I highly recommend. Its like if Lovecraft and David Lynch had a drinking competition.
