I think this was written 15 years ago. Anywhooo...

Not a wine guy, but if I'm going there it'll be something white and fruity af. New Zealand makes some nice sauvignon blanc, and I haven't met a gewurztraminer yet that I haven't liked. Try switching gewurztraminer in for riesling if you're doing a coq au reisling.

A friend and I bought a bottle of that stuff as a joke recently because we drank it a lot in high school.  Holy hell is it awful.  We maybe got through 1/5 of it before we just poured it out.  Horrible.

The lady of the house has been threatening to make a coq au Riesling for quite a while.  She just said the gewurztraminer variant sounds intriguing.  Will probably end up being our Christmas dinner.  Thanks!!!

If you like cabs, Daou is my current favorite. A bottle normally goes for around $25 but I've seen it on sale as low as $19. It's sublime when it's 2-3 years old. It might get even better with more age, but I'll never know.

I don't buy a whole lot of wine but the last couple I've bought Sonoma / Napa wine as my tiny contribution to help the wildfire recovery efforts.
