The distaffbopper hates it when I sing "The police kicked my nads" instead of "Feliz Navidad".

FTFA: "NAD, or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, probably needs no introduction."

No, no, of course not. Everyone knows what nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide is.

a particular individual: FTFA: "NAD, or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, probably needs no introduction."

It annoys me that the author appears to be trying to present information about specific metabolic processes to the learned layman, yet assumes a great deal of knowledge of specific metabolic processes.

And then there's:

"Inefficiency seems to be a rule in NAD systems, as researchers have determined that to make one gram of niacin from tryptophan, some 67 mg of the amino acid are required."

0.067 grams of amino acid to make 1 gram of niacin is inefficient?  What am I missing?

Oh.  I'm missing the part where he answers the question in his headline.

See my comment upthread.

But no, I don't think the question was answered.
