They changed their products to "Well & Good" which I think are terrible. Their ear cleaner doesn't work and their shampoo is possible the worst cleaning product I've ever used. It doesn't lather for shiat and you need like a 1/4 of the bottle to cover your dog.

Thank doG we have Chewy.
Thanks for carrying good products, Chewy

PetCo is where you shouldn't go, for your pets.  Same with PetSmart.  Yesh those places are waaaaaay over priced, like waaaaaay overpriced and maybe some of the workers care, but management certainly doesn't care about their pets.

They want a payday and a rush to the exits.  Wall Street will finish the job the current owners started.

I worked for PetCo around 20 years ago, and my experience was very different. The amount of care that went into the pets was amazing. There was a back room where we kept sick/injured animals, and we would go to extreme lengths to care for them. I'm talking hundreds of dollars worth of veterinary care for $5 hamsters. Not sure if anything has changed since then, but my guess is that PetCo's reputation for not treating animals well is almost entirely because of PETA's "PetNO" campaign. They used to hang out in the store like vultures and snap pictures any time a feeder goldfish didn't look 100%.

PetSmart is actually pretty cheap if you use the coupons they send out and play the games with their loyalty club. I've been getting my friskies there lately as it works out cheaper than Costco. Petco on the other hand is / was ridiculous. They pretty much closed all their locations in my area.
