Temp went from 25F to 56F overnight a few nights ago, and we had a big old thunderstorm.  My dog was distraught far in advance of when I noticed the storm.  Clearly, the answer is to issue every person in Scotland a storm sensing puppy.

Usually it is. Right now it's just brown - sticks and leaves.

And the last day there was thunder, lightning, and snow... together!   And I hadn't done drugs.   'Cause when you're lying in bed, OK, and hear thunder outside, and you get up to look, you have an expectation.   And it's not snow with lightning behind it.   That's not right.   They don't even write about that kind of weather in the Bible.   And I imagine that if a prophet had seen that kind of weather, after he wiped the poop out of his pants, he would have told us about it.

I've experienced this twice in my life.  First during the blizzard of 93 then I think in 2010

I lived in the Upper Peninsula awhile -- that's like honorary Canada or something. We saw this every year. Once on Julty 4th.

I have experienced this twice, once in a high desert pass where it went from bright, dry and hot to dark and apocalyptic in twenty minutes time.
The surreal nature of Thundersnow is hard to overstate, especially standing in a desert on sand still radiating heat.

I could have done me with some of that.

Past couple of days, it's been cold, crisp and clear. Thermometer in the car - not that I trust it to be an accurate representation of what a calibrated thermometer would say - has said ~1 C. Had to do a proper defrost and de-icer deployment before the car was usable yesterday.

But the sky was clear, the ground was crisp, and all I needed to protect myself from the weather was a zipped up jacket and a pair of gloves.

Today? Meh. 7 C, overcast, dreich and windy. The worst kind of weather. Grey sky, ceaseless drizzle that will find your skin at some point, and wind that's colder than still air on a snowy day.

/And the best thing about fresh snow is how it reflects the moonlight.
