Ebron played in Detroit. He routinely played 3 games in twelve days every year over thanksgiving.

More whining from Steelers players and their fans.

Now (Friday 10am Central) + 7 days = next Friday at 10am Central.

Since games take a non-zero amount of time to play, you're playing a large part of two games within a period of seven days.

Not seven calendar days, playing parts of two games within seven days of time

Oh wow, you've doubled down on your argument. Sort of like you've double counted Friday in your example.

An event that happens today at a given time and then happens next week at the same time does not happen twice in the same week.

If a team plays one Sunday from 1pm - 4pm , and the next Sunday 1pm - 4pm... you can take the seven day period from, say 2pm the first Sunday until 2pm the next Sunday... and the team would have played football twice over a period of seven days (168 hours.)

I didn't say seven calendar days... that would be Sun, Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs, Fri, Sat.

If I play football today at 4pm and tomorrow at 3pm, I've played two incidents of football within a day.

Not a calendar day.  A 24-hour day.  "Day" means multiple things.

Using that logic, the 2nd game also occurs in the same week as the 3rd game (providing the 3rd game is on the same weekday), in addition to occurring in same week as the first game....there has to be a line drawn somewhere but you're not doing that.

Or does the 2nd game get played twice on the same day?

I'm being super pedantic of course, but it's not incorrect.  You are correct with what you're saying there if you're not measuring by specified calendar increments.  This is because these events take a non-zero amount of time.

If you look at the reverse... people often say a baseball game that went past midnight was played "over two days."  All depends on where you want to begin measuring the "day"

Yes, that is true and I'm finally grasping what you said in the previous few posts. Measuring a stretch from 2pm Sunday to 1:59pm the following Sunday is an increment of one week that would include portions of 2 games. You are correct.

I still wouldn't describe the act of playing football on consecutive Sundays as playing twice in a week. That's misleading. The standard is once per week with the occasional exception of a Sunday/Thursday or Monday/Sunday in a given week.

Ebron has a point that playing 3 games within a 12 day period is unusually brutal. And I say that as an Eagles fan who is bitterly jealous of the Steelers' success.

Nope, that's not the case. The Thursday games are not the same week as the Sunday games.

When a Thursday game is scheduled, it comes on the 5th inclusive day of the previous Sunday game. The team then would not play the Sunday that follows 3 days later, they would be scheduled the following week.

3 games in 15 days at the minimum. That's true whether it's regular TNF or the Thanksgiving games. The Steelers' recovery timeline has been trimmed a bit because of the Wednesday game.

True or false - After the upcoming Steelers game no other team in NFL history will have played more official games in a shorter period of time. He should shut up for sure but we should be able to settle that basic fact without necessarily making any value judgements if for no other reason than it's an interesting bit of trivia.

This *is* 2020.  The Browns have to win the Superb Owl, because the greatest heartache Cleveland could have is finally winning and not being able to have over a million fans come party downtown in celebration, along with the requisite Parade.  Not to mention the Super Bowl parties and the playoff parties before that, or be able to actually *go* to the games.

Pittsburgh's next scheduled game is Mon 7 Dec. They last played on Wed 2 Dec, a turnaround of five days. Every team that has had a game scheduled on a Sunday and one on the Thursday four days later has had to deal with a shorter turnaround between official games.

Before Wednesday, they last played on Sun 22 Nov. That game, the Wednesday game, and the upcoming Monday game will make 3 official games in 15 days. Every team that has had consecutive games scheduled Sun-Sun-Thurs or Mon-Sun-Sun has played 3 games in fewer than 15 days.

Their Week 10 game was on Sun 15 Nov, for 4 official games in 22 days. As I pointed out above, the Broncos opened the season with 4 games in a 17-day span.

The answer would appear to be "false."

Addendum: After RTFA (I know, who does that?), Ebron was referring to Weeks 12 through 14. Since for Pittsburgh, this covers Wed 2 Dec through Sun 13 Dec, I concede that this is a faster turnaround than regularly-scheduled Mon-Sun-Sun games, but it is essentially equivalent to Sun-Sun-Thurs. This doesn't change the fact that the Steelers aren't getting screwed any harder than any other team that has had to play Sun-Sun-Thurs since regular TNF became a thing. The answer still appears to be "false."

Any team can be beaten. That's why the Chiefs have a -1 in their record. They got stomped out by the Raiders, so I'm not sure why everyone is acting like they're invincible.

But that's why they play the games.
