TWX: Not only is his high school sports career over, likely his entire sports career is over.  Idiot.

It is Texas, so maybe he dodges criminal charges especially since his team advanced and you know the local community will be pulling to get him on the field. No way it happens as even in Texas the sanctioning body will suspend him for the rest of his senior season.  It certainly will affect any division 1 offers and he will have to pray he gets a chance at a community college or division 3 school that is willing to overlook a little thing attacking an official in search of talent they may not otherwise get. A brief moment of rage probably derailed a good chance at bettering his life.

I have to admit football has definitely gotten more interesting in the adderall era but I do feel a bit bad for the players who wash out before scoring an NFL payday.

The NFL has signed dog abusers, exonerated murderers, and currently employ a RB convicted of child abuse.  He'll be just fine, actually this may raise his stock some.  If he had taken a knee during the national anthem however...

Was the guy in blue trying to protect the other player involved? You see him first and to the right of the ref and tackler.

If you enjoy hearing about elite athletes from every sport out there flame out, and who doesn't?, I highly recommend to you and all farkers, the podcast Crime In Sports.    ( And my personal favorite of theirs, Small Town Murder.)   Enjoy!

From another article about this:

...ran onto the field and shoved the official, identified by local media as Fred Garcia, to the turf at the 40-yard line in response to the ejection in the second quarter. Duron was tossed for committing a personal foul and an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the same play.

The Monitor, a newspaper covering Texas' Rio Grande Valley, reported that Duron received the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for exchanging words with Garcia after being flagged for a late hit.

I'm betting dollars to donuts that the kid will justify his actions by claiming the ref used a racial slur during that exchange of words. I've seen pictures of the kid and he looks like the typical jock that recently discovered how easy it is to get anabolic steroids from Mexico and is now all roided up. That's my explanation.

2020-12-04 8:48:10 AM
And here's more:

The Monitor reported that Duron - who is also a top wrestler - was involved in a similar incident when he was playing soccer for Edinburg last school year. He was suspended for the remainder of the season then.

He's a Junior.  And unless I missed in in multiple articles, you have no one in the chain of influence condemning his actions outright.  Knowing how Texas football/sports are, this totally has the feel of them setting it up so they can get him back on the field.  He *may* get taken off for the remainder of the season and if that is the case he'll make the tour where he reads his scripted apology lines and he'll be back on the practice field in July.

I promise you they are working hard to minimize the consequences for this.  It is the first and foremost thing on their minds.

Oh, and other articles have nice pics of the cops no-touch walking him out.  I didn't see the pics where they offer him a nice bottle of Aqua Deco and an ointment rub and an encouraging talk.

Don't know if serious, but the referee has an accent and the last name of Garcia, so that won't fly.  If this gets swept under the rug like many here are speculating, good luck getting any officials to accept an assignment with that school ever.

Nice to know that having an accent and ethnic surname somehow makes it impossible for that person to use racial slurs. What other magical properties do ethnic minorities possess in the world you live in?

I'm not saying that racial language was used and I'm not saying it wasn't. I have no idea what was said between them because it hasn't been released. But 99 times out of 100 when these kinds of incidents happen, the race card is immediately played by the offender to justify what they did, regardless of the ethnic status of the parties involved. That was my original supposition, and yes, I'm serious.

Why wouldn't it fly? Just because he has a Hispanic surname doesn't mean he can't be racist. Don't tell me you don't know about the racial animosity between some Latino and African American communities.  Hell in some LA neighborhoods there was firebombings of African American homes by Latino gangs, https://www.reuters.com/article/us-california-hatecrime/gang-member-pleads-guilty-after-firebombing-black-homes-in-los-angeles-idUSKCN1RM08I.

Please note, there is no evidence of anything of a racial nature happening in this case.  It is just speculation on what the perpetrator of a seemingly unprovoked attack might claim to try and provide context for his indefensible actions.

First, roid rage and shiatty parenting and coaching. Second, he's the type that plays dirty so someone should do the other players a favor and tackle him straight in the knees so that every ligament explodes into confetti. Third, For every person up the chain that doesn't kick him off the team, they deserve to lose their jobs or face suspensions. He should have been off the team before the fina whistle.
