I went to the Twitter and saw no back and forth from her. Maybe I still don't navigate twitter for shiat though.

Oh god. This shiat show is going to be social warfare as white people realize racism isn't black and white races only. But is a long storied tradition of Chinese internment camps, Chinese exclusion acts, and the god damn San Francisco Irish being viewed as more of a human than a Chinese Rail worker.

Keep all criticism to the government. Because the people and culture of China is pretty farking amazing. And have endured over 100 years of despicable despotic rule.

I was wondering that myself. I was assuming she was reacting to some news about intellectual property theft or something Trump was whining about.

That, and the Xia dynasty (which comprises the first 2000 or so supposed years of that number) is basically mythological.

ID at the polls is farking stupid.

I proved who I was when I registered. Someone would have to know my information, then hope I didn't vote so they could use my slot.

The very idea of getting enough votes in person is ridiculous, and if it could be done, three things are true: 1. They wouldn't go after "chows" or illegal immigrants to do it. 2. They would be able get imposter IDs via easier to fake originating docs like birth certificates. 3. The GOP's would already have been doing it.

If we REALLY wanted to solve voter fraud we'd go with national IDs, reset the registration stage, make it easy to move registration location (I know I've never unregistered but I have moved a lot. I suppose I might be registered in multiple districts or even states), and allow individuals to check the status of their own vote. Then no two Smackledorfers are going to vote, and no one will be multi-registered, and it still wouldn't require any showing of ID. Then your worst case fraud would just be voting for someone else. Which only gets you anything if you know they won't vote.

If Dominion or whatever is a problem, make paper ballots mandatory so any disputed election could have hand recounts - and that means no destroying the paper ballots or resetting machines for X months after an election.

Throw in a two day holiday for national voting with mandatory time off available.

Hell, you could even make voting mandatory itself, then you get X voters and X ballots - no ability to stuff a ballot box there.

So you're saying we should take the high road?

2020-12-04 4:19:20 AM
Old and busted:

Unlike Eastern Republicans, whose history was defined by opposition to slavery, Western Republicans had long held racial views toward Asians and Native Americans similar to those of Southern Democrats toward African Americans. For example, Republican Governor Leland Stanford of California had this to say in his 1862 Inaugural Address:

To my mind it is clear, that the settlement among us of an inferior race is to be discouraged, by every legitimate means. Asia, with her numberless millions, sends to our shores the dregs of her population.... There can be no doubt but that the presence of numbers among us of a degraded and distinct people must exercise a deleterious influence upon the superior race, and, to a certain extent, repel desirable immigration. It will afford me great pleasure to concur with the Legislature in any constitutional action, having for its object the repression of the immigration of the Asiatic races.

Discrimination against Asians culminated in enactment of the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 under Republican President Chester A. Arthur, which formed the basis for all subsequent efforts to restrict immigration based on race and ethnicity. The 1888 Republican platform, in fact, said this was just the first step: "We declare our hostility to the introduction into this country of foreign contract labor and of Chinese labor, alien to our civilization and constitution; and we demand the rigid enforcement of the existing laws against it, and favor such immediate legislation as will exclude such labor from our shores."

/But don't you dare carr them wacist!

If only China had never stolen the recipe for gunpowder from the US.  They apparently even stole the idea for a printing press before Gutenberg was even born..

That means they pretty much wrote both the First and Second Amendments, or at least provided the tools which made them meaningful.

What else has China stolen/invented?

Despite the problems with racism that America - and other Western countries - struggle with, they are, by and large, aware that there is a problem, and are generally working to make it not one, with various degrees of success.

China's racism is on a whole other level. Well, literally Nazi-like racism, as we hear from the treatment of the Uyghers.

As someone who has been following the news out of Xinjiang since the mid-1990s, no one in the US gave a flying damn about Uyghurs until the last few years, when it suddenly became politically-expedient to do so. I must've seen more news about Uyghurs written in the last 4 years than was written in the whole of the previous 16.

Yep. If you're implying it's a political expediency, that might be true. Awareness is also a thing. Remember when folks would see something about "Free Tibet!" and ask, "Who's Tibet?"
