An email telling people not to steal money, while I'm stealing money. If it were that easy we wouldn't have prisons.

Trump Tower Vancouver is waiting to fall on her.  2021 will not be kind to the Trump companies.

Its going to be interesting to see what they list as crimes that they need to pardon. Confession probably isn't in the trump vocabulary.

Was it signed, "Epstein's Mother?"

Govt employees can't book outside of GSA per diem/FedRooms anyways(and if they do it's on them, not the hotel), and we don't care how they fleece the private morons that want to stay there, so I wonder what the angle is(outside of the fact that this whole thing is one big emoluments violation)?

Yeah, she's a real genius with this one.

"You see your honor, four years ago I sent this email. Clearly it is impossible that different instructions were given since then! Checkmate!"

Oh IDK maybe something about people staying at Trump Hotel getting access to the president
It-s been so long and so many shady things have been done but didn't Saudi Arabia rent a floor of suites no one stayed in off to Google

bhcompy: so I wonder what the angle is

The Inauguration Committee, which is supposedly a non-profit, booked Trump's own hotel for rooms and conference facilities, including a private party for family and "close friends". And the Committee overpaid, thereby funneling inauguration funds into the pockets of Trump and his family.

It would have been legal if they had paid an actual "fair" rate... as they were advised to in an email three days later from an adviser, warning Ivanka that the agreed rate was too high.

This.

Great, so far there isn't an email from her reading "GOUGE ALL THE THINGS"

But, by insisting it was a standard room rate, she's admitting to other violations.

It's like an interview scene from a cop show. The Interview. The questions.
The blonde who clearly explains why she can't be guilty of robbing her John because all she did was open the motel room so her manager could lift that wallet

I hope someday there is a comprehensive listing of all the ways this Administration violated the Emoluments Clause. It sticks in my craw that Trump was sworn in as POTUS while actively, admittedly, violating the Constitution.

2020-12-03 3:19:24 PM
The insulting thing here is how dumb she believes *every* person that is not immediately around her.

Nothing should have been held at your family's hotels you farking idiot - for the very *least* reason so there would be no questions about wrong-doing.  How farking stupid do you have to be?  Seriously, what the hell am I missing because if I were in that position, I can't imagine doing something that would cause one tax penny to go towards anything I own....especially if I, for some reason, didn't dump my controlling interest in some trust like every other farking president did.

And these shenanigans are why all the trump holdings should have been placed in a blind trust.

We need to strengthen that shiat.  Like, "no, we will not inaugurate you until you do it".  I don't care if we have to change the constitution to do it.

Because innocent people use terms like "fair market price" in emails all the time.

The angle is that after a while, a grifter figures out that there are some things that are put in e-mails, which are quickly followed-up by a telephone call saying that minds have changed.

This happens especially when a grifter's family members have been nailed for criminal grifting on account of, oh, I don't know, e-mails?

2020-12-03 3:24:37 PM
Btw, I would have no trouble believing that "fair market price" has a special meaning at their company.

2020-12-03 3:25:36 PM
Oh, naïve Ivanka.  If they've got you under deposition, it's because they already have the emails.  And those other emails too.  And the texts you forgot you sent.  Hope you didn't perjure yourself in those five long hours.

2020-12-03 3:25:44 PM
This is a joke.

"Fair market value" doesn't mean no profit.

And even if it was "no-profit" you would still being paying for your costs that you might need to be spending money on anyway.

That's like saying someone didn't bribe me because they bought 10,000 of my books at "fair market value".

It makes no sense.

2020-12-03 3:26:05 PM
Here's the fair market rate scam. You write the "requirements" so only your hotel can fulfill the contract, then you charge one dollar below rack rate. Ta-dah! Fair market!

\ Lies lies lies
\\ Yeah

AKA "this is gonna get audited, it is going to show you milked the government for an event for the Trump family on Trump property, PLEASE offer a discount instead of this "we're merely asking for market rate on the entire hotel on every room to hold the event."
