We had to switch to Teams from Slack. It's like getting bumped from a modern passenger airliner to a propeller aircraft from the 50s. It works, but everything is clunky and feels like you're fighting it to get anything done. But since we already use Office 365, the move saved us enough to hire two engineers, so there's that. And that's really all Teams has going for it.

I hope the engineers at Microsoft will continue to improve it. Maybe it'll take on a greater priority now that Slack is part of Salesforce and no longer a little guy in the enterprise market.

My friends and I use the free version of Slack for sh*ts and giggles. Meanwhile I'm trying to get my workplace to adopt Teams and goddamn it's hard to cheerlead for because I hate it myself.

Once again Microsoft is using its enormous market leverage to boost an inferior product.

We use teams at work and the specific building I work out of is using the Shifts app in Teams to control body count and contact trace during this current shiat show.

UI designers should carefully study the Shifts app, and then NEVER DO THAT. Want to respond to a message while assigning slots on the schedule, sure lets reset all your filters when you return to the schedule. That is the worst one, I could go on for days about other annoyances.

We went from a wiki based repository of technical information to approx one million slack channels that you have to constantly search to find the information you are looking for. It's giant pain in the ass and goddamn the sorry upper management asshole that made this decision for us.

We use Teams, and it works fine for us. We were previously using Skype for Business, though, so for us it was actually a step up. There were some things that were annoying at first, but Microsoft has slowly been making it better. I think the biggest issue we had initially was that it was designed primarily as a mobile app, so it had some stupid things like not letting you have different chat windows open with different conversations going at the same time.

If you're actively collaborating on design documents or reviewing data, Teams is the clear winner.

If you're just actively exchanging files and pinging folks for updates, Slack by far is the easier app to use.

Teams?  I hate Teams, and here's an excellent example of why:

To paste plain text into Teams without any formatting is shift-ctrl-V.  There is no option in Teams settings to always paste plain text without formatting. Outlook has just such a 'always paste plain text' toggle in it's settings.

The hotkey in Teams to open a voice call to the person you are currently chatting with is shift-ctrl-C.

C and V are next to each other on the keyboard.

As a result, some middle-manager at Microsoft needs their ass kicked to the point that they spend the next week in an ICU shiatting their own teeth into a bedpan.

All I want is a simple work task intake form in Teams, oh good there's an app called Forms... wait, this is a survey... Can't I just get a FORM?

No?

Ok Back to Sharepoi... Oh, you killed InfoPath forms because "Forms" is all that and a bag of moldy chips? I don't want a GD Survey, I need a form for people to say "Here's what we need, here are the details, here's the start date, and end date" that's it. I don't need to track answers beyond ensuring the work is done, I don't need stats on how long it takes someone to fill out my survey, I don't need analytics on the results.

I just need a GD FORM!

I don't have much to add to what's already been said about Teams. But my boss and I were just talking today about what a step down Teams has been from Skype.

We can expect Microsoft's 50¢ army to chime in soon about how Teams is the best thing since IE6!

I think they're pushing Power Apps for that now. Makes them some extra $$$.

Really? I can't comment much on Teams vs. Slack because I only used Slack briefly with an external client, but we used Skype and then switched over to Teams and I definitely prefer Teams of the two of them

Before you complain about any platform, you should know there are organizations out there still using Lotus Notes.

My Teams program will always open an Excel file in the bottom-rightmost cell, and I don't think that I have the access to fix it.  It's infuriating.
