Now what will life be like in Duckberg?

2020-12-03 11:00:11 AM
It went by so quickly, like a duck blur.

Great. I have to go back to jerkin' to Paw Patrol again? God dammit, it's so boring.

Better to stop while people like it, and are willing to revisit it.

Eh, they made syndication and did better than I thought they would. Shame it seems the Darkwing reboot won't be using their stuff as a base. You'd think that would just confuse kids. Still, I liked every episode I saw when I managed to catch it

2020-12-03 11:34:50 AM
I'm actually okay with this, as long as they end the series well.  I'd rather have the three solid seasons that have aired rather than let it go on and maybe deteriorate like way too many shows do in later seasons.  Besides, if the creators have moved on and the actual animation assets have been reassigned, there's not much one can do.

Plus Darkwing Duck is being rebooted, and there might be other reboots and spin-offs from the same world after that, so I doubt it's the last we'll see of this version of Scrooge and family.

Hated the new style of animation. Nothing of value was lost.

Shame, this was one of the more fun things to watch on Disney+, and its not like they have a lot of other decent active series in their library.

I thought this was a surprisingly good reboot. Will be sad to see it go.

The style as a whole wasn't bad, just the color pallette.

free market = don't matter if the critics like you, unless they are the target audience and they alone keep you financially supported.

So i'm guess this is a good show that was reasonably intelligent for a kids cartoon show, and so obviously not low brow enojgh for the middle bell to pay the bills.

at least if we assume critics have some discerning taste and audience scores are just about the boom pow whoosh i member stuff pop references.
then yeah, bothering with the critics seems a waste of time for most trying to flip a buck on the entertainment market.

Not that i seen any of it, i'll just assume they didn't pitch'em slow and obvious enough then if the critics like it but viewership's not enough to keep it in production.

We're in another era like when all the cartoons only had like 10 frames of animation in them. Though at least those drawings had detail. Now there are plenty of frames but everything's blobby and lacking detail because it's easy to do and anyone who's done a couple weeks of Youtube tutorials can copy the style, so labor's cheap and none of your artists are important. DuckTales was far from the worst offender but you can see in comparisons that a lot of the changes were to remove detail so they can just let computers do all the animating, and there's little actual drawing to do. Lazy and cheap and looks worse. Same reason cartoons used to spend a lot of time with static backgrounds re-used episode to episode, with the only motion being someone's lips while they talked. Saving money.

Third season is just about peak for most shows. They're giving it an ending and doing spin-offs. This is a good death.

Disney has a habit of doing this with its "tween" marketed animated shows.

It seams you get 4 seasons or 4 1/2 years, which ever comes first.

At least it's not killing itself narrative-wise like the new Voltron does past season 4. Holy shiat I hate the story, the animation and designs were great. The story was not.

There have been many comments about how this version ruined the original show. I like to needle back by responding that the original show ruined the original classic comic books.

The only thing I hoped the reboot would bring from the comics was Grandma and her electric car. The world's longest extension cord would have been a great animated running gag.

2020-12-03 1:11:42 PM
My 3 year old likes the original cartoon better than the new one.  It's more visually engaging and i don't really understand the need for all the sharp angles in the new animation style.

I complain about shows that have no right to exist in the first place. No one outside of a Hollywood exec's coke-binging room wanted this thing ever to happen.

It is the Ghostbusters 2016 of animation. Thundercats Roar should be taught in schools as a lesson in animation history about "what NOT to do".

Some ray of GOOD news to report. The reason why they're ending production on Ducktales?

It's because the staff is going to start work on the Darkwing Duck reboot.

I'd bet five bucks it's still better than the "Tygra is the best character on the show he is better than both Lion-O and Panthro combined" 2011 reboot

So did you complain about She-Ra and the Voltron reboots? The reboot of Reboot? The constant rebooting of Transformers or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Because there's a lot of those and for some odd reason the only one you seem fixated on is a rehashed reboot that was trying to strike gold like Teen Titans Go did.

Hey, you remember that cgi action show about living beings inside a computer?

Yeah.

Let's make it a live action high school drama with a stock footage transformation montage and only three minutes of animation per show.

Brilliant!

Thats cool. Makes we want to learn that song.

On another note, the original series lasted 3 years, so I'm not hurt the reboot lasted 3.
