Deoending on where you live, butter doesn't need to be refrigerated. And you can use powdered milk.

I can't be the only one that seen the headline and thought "That's all? They usually get at least 50%"

Don't get me wrong it still seems off balanced but I also know there are a lot of small PPP loans out there so I'm not sure how far out of wack it is and might be a reflection on just how many really small businesses got small loans.

I'm sure there are vendors who have developed processes for maximizing the benefits available from completing a government form. I've worked for a consultancy firm that worked on maximizing benefits of specific tax credit programs from the H Bush administration. Business is competitive at every level.

Agreed on the butter.  And there's always box milk, which doesn't need refrigeration until opened.

I'm hesitating to call anything the "most corrupt relief program in US history", since, y'know, there's a lot of grift all the way back there, but I wonder where this is going to rank when someone inevitably does compile such a list.

I don't need a fridge 6 months out of the year since I live in a freezer during that time. The other 6 months I can get by letting ramen soak up the river water under the sun to warm up.

Honestly, now that i can read the article without the paywall, the program overall sounds like a success. There are a few abusers that took large sums and those abusers need to be harassed and investigated to no end for signing a loan application indicating their business was under financial duress and needed the funds. Extract those loans in legal / accounting defenses from these companies if you have to. However overall seeing that soo many small loans were issued gives me a warm and fuzzy on the program itself.

We used powdered milk when I was young. I get you've never tasted powdered milk in your life.
Get over yourselves, you fat consuming motherfarkers who made all of this possible. And now all you can do is make fun of those who aren't as sociopathic as you are.

We should have some threads about THAT. But that wouldn't fly on Fark, would it? Not this echo chamber.

When the program worked as intended, the government covered payroll for your boss.  You worked for free for a bunch of months.

True, but your boss is also not able to expense the payroll covered by the loan like he ordinarily would have been able to. So they'll pay tax on the money at least.

We only buy HT milk and powdered milk but you still have to refrigerate it after opening. I get about 7 days out of box assuming there are no power outages.

...sooo business as usual?

Champion of the Sun: Are you saying that's a bad thing?

No, that was the entire point of the program.  But it seemed like you were saying that it wasn't a thing at all, so I pointed it out.

And given the urgency of the moment, there wasn't really any realistically better way of doing it.  Just like the plenty of people got $1200 they didn't need, it couldn't be avoided without drastically delaying the ability to get money to people who really did need it.

If you have to add milk and butter, you are not buying the poverty brand of mac and cheese.
