What kind of barbaric country doesn't provide basic health care to their citizens?

2020-12-02 9:36:08 AM
Now I understand why these people support the Clintons and Bidens of the country.
This is their first taste of what the rest of us have known all along.
Maybe start with more fundraisers for people that want Americans to have healthcare next time.

Obligatory - Welcome to the party pal!

Marcus Aurelius: What kind of barbaric country doesn't provide basic health care to their citizens?

The wealthiest country in the world.

It didn't become the wealthiest by being nice.

The kind that believes in bootstrappyness. Why'd you choose to get sick?

It became the wealthiest by convincing the poors to hate each other and convincing them selfishness is a virtue.

But I get you.

People advocating for their own interests.  How shocking and repugnant.

If you're old enough to get medicare, and you have a net worth in the millions of dollars, Why should you have that kind of benefit when you're past retirement age?

The vast majority of actors (even members of SAG-AFTRA) aren't worth millions.  The article doesn't mention it specifically, but I suspect the big name wealthy actors are advocating for the majority that will be negatively impacted by the changes.

Ignoring the fact that I'm pretty sure all these people haven't been wealthy their whole lives, this is undoubtedly in support of actors who truly need it and aren't multimillionaires.

95% of #SAGAFTRA members earn <25K/yr.
They're stand-ins. Stunts. VO. Background.

Yep.  "F*ck you, I got mine."  Actors seem to be more willing to go to bat for the little guy because a) most of them started out at the bottom, doing commercials and other grunt work, and b) they know how fickle Hollywood is, and how quickly you can fall from top billing to unable to get a job.

It sucks, but if the math doesn't work out, talk to the government. You can't just demand something to have more money.

I don't see the problem here. Two things are happening. Rates are going up (duh, healthcare has been outpacing inflation for decades) and they trimming members from the plan that no longer qualify (based upon earnings).

The first one is reality. You can't complain to the union about that. The market is what the market is.

Now cutting actors out because they didn't have enough income to qualify during a year full of production shut-downs due to the pandemic is a dick-move if I ever saw one.

Zero sympathy.

Cry a river for your own interests when you had more options and opportunity than most ever get in a life time. Millions of your fellow citizens have been going without health care your entire lives. Where was your of tears for them? Where was your voice for those who didn't have one?

Now that your own health care group, that is subject to the free market health care like everyone else, is having to deal and now that this has an influecn on your life, now you have a voice about the concerns of health care needs in America?

go eat your own ass holes, all of you even the ones i like, i still like you, but  on this front you're a selfish little piece of piggy shiat that's earns only contempt from me for this. They can have all the concern and sympathy from me on their health care problems now, that i seen them giving to their fellow citizens these last 30 years.

Hate to disrupt your daily serving of word salad with a basic fact, but I'm 100% confident that Morgan Freeman, Whoopi Goldberg, and Mark Hamill can all afford their own expensive, private insurance.

This article is SPECIFICALLY ABOUT their advocating for the LESSER EARNING members of the Screen Actors Guild. You know, the 98% that are not household names, the ones who actually rely on the union's basic insurance plan.

Would you like to explain again how the 3 actors in the headline are whining out of self interest? Just because there are broader issues with health care and society doesn't give you a pass to sh*t on their actions in this case.

I'm trying to find the thread/news article, but the bump in health premiums is affecting those still in the acting business, like Norman Lloyd, who is 106.

And the United States. It's just that we socialized slavery so that only the state can do it, but then we privatized it again through contracting out prison operation to private corporations.

Don't forget how we outsource slavery in China.
We love to have that little bit of deniability as slim as it is.
Since China created a whole industry in Muslim slaves to support NIKE,Apple,Amazon etc. ,those companies are responsible for their crimes against humanity.

That episode is so old it can't be covered on its parent medical plan

Umm, they're doing it for people in their profession that earn far less than them. They aren't the bad guys here. If you think Morgan Freeman, Whoopi and Hamil are worried about their own personal SAG health plans, then you can come over here and lick my windows while you're at it.
