The Fosters brothers started in New York and brought the concept of refrigerated beer to Melbourne Australia. They ended up leaving and went to Canada.

I've run a blind taste test of 3 Fosters.  One was the Canadian made Fosters.  The other two were made at CUB Abbotsford  (aka Melbourne Australia).  One set of the local ones was pre-pasteurized and made that day and the other was out of their cold storage at the plant.   The Canadian made beer was clearly better than the other two and the pasteurized one was the worst of the three.  All three had that distinctive Fosters taste but the local ones just weren't quite right.

That AU$53 for 30 cans includes sales tax so it would be the same as US$39 or about US$1.10 a can pre tax which is real cheap for beer here.

Fosters is my cheap beer lately, @ $2 per 25 oz. can. It has a decent bitter bite for cheap stuff.

While in Sydney at a pub near the Circular Quay, I noticed they had Fosters in a frig under the bar. As Australians don't drink Fosters (I was enjoying a pint of Victoria Bitter at the time), I asked them why they carried Fosters. The barkeep explained they were for the tourists.

/Not that kind of tourist.

I remember going to Mexico about 10 years ago (maybe more?). You couldn't find Corona beer in bars there. Now widely available.

I've never enjoyed a VB. I've drunk the odd one, but I never enjoyed it.

In other news, advertising is all lies.

Cue the advertisers showing up to tell us what a valuable service they provide and how lost we'd all be without them and how no really they just want to educate us about our options.

/ Oh wait, that's hackernews that has that particular disgusting infestation of useless farksticks, not fark.com.

A friend of mine living in Perth says beer is so expensive there, that he homebrews his entire supply.

And yes, he also says no respectable Aussie would drink Foster's.

The food tab is not the pol tab and I try to avoid conflict on here but...I would have been lost without TV during the lockdown and the stations can't run without revenue from advertising. Many of the ads featured masks so they were freshly produced. In that aspect they were a critical part of infrastructure so that there weren't more family murders. Most advertising sucks. Some are fun and witty. Usually the better ones, I can't remember what product they were selling.

/not in advertising

I don't think the homeless guy that stumbles around like a walking dead zombie waving his arms and drooling would drink fosters.

I get the ale once in a while.  Usually right next to the lager.  I think every time I look it is about 3 or 3.50 for a couple cans at the grocery.
