And then when are the Ravens playing the Cowboys? That's the TNF game that was scheduled this week.

Actually that's pretty funny the Cowboys were scheduled for two Thursdays in a row.

Should be the high quality football we have come to expect when one team hasn't even seen a practice field in almost 2 weeks.

Maybe they can find someone who ran the wishbone in pop warner to be quarterback for them, it worked for Denver--that was some high quality stuff.

They both were, which is par for 2020. Just hope they don't mess with anything with next week's TNF, it's already a long assed trip.

You can thank NBC for the mid-afternoon timeslot.  They didn't want to piss off their advertisers who'd bought ads for the Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting special.  NBC is going to take a financial hit from the game's advertisers, but that was a writeoff almost as soon as the NFL moved the game off of Thanksgiving.

Oh how hilarious if this game happens and the undefeated Steelers have to forfeit in the playoffs.

Does it really get THAT many viewers?  Surely it doesn't get nearly as much as a Steelers/Ravens game.  Also, it's not like anyone is actually there... surely they could just air it on a delay.  Who'd know the difference?

All passing plays
COME ON, you can screw NBC hard if you try!

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL!  A Wednesday afternoon PARTY!

Whether I'm available for the Collinsworth Drunk-O-Meter or not depends on my boss.  I had just convinced her to cancel this week's meeting that happens to conflict with the start of the game, just for a co-worker to go "Well actually we have things we need to discuss..."  And sadly, it's not the kind of office where "but FOOTBALL!" is an acceptable reason to postpone/cancel meetings.  So, we'll see if the meeting's back on or not.

2020-12-02 11:45:17 AM
...and the meeting's back on.  Someone start off the Collinsworth Drunk-O-Meter without me.  Remember that 10 out of 10 is reserved for when he says something that either gets him bleeped or taken off the air.  He'll get there someday, I know it.

You know what?  Let's go whole hog to put a cherry on top of this shiat sundae.  I want to see one of the teams declare a wildcat strike due to unsafe playing conditions.  The Ravens had more positive tests yesterday and I wouldn't blame either team for doing it.

puffy999: Oh how hilarious if this game happens and the undefeated Steelers have to forfeit in the playoffs.

Why would they have to forfeit? The NFL has bent over backwards to make sure that the Ravens don't have to forfeit, why would they do it to a team in the playoffs?

jaylectricity: And then when are the Ravens playing the Cowboys? That's the TNF game that was scheduled this week.

They should make them play the Thursday night game anyway, there needs to be some actual penalty for violating the Covid protocols.

Mikey1969: there needs to be some actual penalty

NFL in the past few days handed down a fine to the Saints for Week 9 against-protocol activity.  I expect the Ravens' penalty to be doled out in Week 17.

I think it has happened nearly every year since they started doing TNF. Sunday, Thanksgiving, Thursday, Sunday. So we get like, 3 games in 12 days or something.

Ravens/Cowboys has been moved to TuNF (the 8th). FOR NOW didn't even know WAP* was on the table.

Adam Schefter (ESPN) is reporting that there were no new COVID cases on the Ravens today, and one new Steeler (Maurkice Pouncey) placed on the Reserve/COVID list.  Today's game is officially a go.

The tree thing draws several million fewer viewers than an NFL game according to the article, but apparently the tree lighting special sells really well with advertisers (well enough that NBC upped it from 1 hour to 2 hours a couple years ago).  From the article it looks like NBC took a big ad revenue loss on the game as soon as it didn't air in prime time on Thanksgiving, so whenever it was rescheduled for wasn't going to affect the financials too much.  So they prioritized the tree special in order to not piss off a second group of lucrative advertisers.

runwiz: Game may be a bit of a farce.  I'm expecting a relatively quick-paced game. A lot of plays designed to keep the clock running.

It should be, because they waited so long that the Rats got their best running backs back and RGKnee is the quarterback. I'd be surprised if the Rats called more than about 10 pass plays all day. When that happens the clock doesn't stop, so this game will fly by.

Of course, something bad will happen, especially now that Pouncey is on the COVID list. These games are always stupid violent, so I expect some season-altering injury.

But Pittsburgh should win.

It may not be just about the number viewers but the demographic of the viewers.

Some adeverstisers may be willing to pay more for the tree lighting than a football game knowing the can target there demographic better
