The border will be open after Covid is under control here? Oh, he means never.

Keep the border closed to tourists permanently. I'm absolutely not missing the idiots looking for snow in summer, or the turkeys attempting Canadian roads in winter without the benefit of snow tires.

My sister hasn't kissed her husband in 10 months, but if she was driving a truckload of fake dogshiat to Vancouver, they'd be all, "Right this way, Ma'am, eh."

As a teenager working tourist info in Kitchener Ontario in the 80's...I once had to deliver the sad news to a family from the US with skis on their roof rack that no...there is no snow in Canada in July.

Also the local hill was not worth the trip across the border even in the dead of winter.

The best ones are those who drive across the border from a northern, neighbouring state, and wonder where the August snows are, as if the border is some magic demarcation governing even the weather.

As someone who frequently traveled into Canada in July and August to go snow and ice climbing, I take exception to your comment.

Admittedly, you have to go a little farther north or up...or both.

I'm sad.  There's a good garden supply store in Quebec that we would be going to in the spring, just over the border from the North Country.

It must have been confusing for the teenager working at the "Tourism Kugluktuk" booth when they phoned him to cancel their ski chalet reservations.

I dunno, I have high hopes that after the vaccine comes out, Canadians will all get it and obtain hers immunity to the extent that it doesn't matter if they reopen the border or not. I mean I have no faith the US vaccine use will achieve this level but Canada probably could and at that point it would have to lessen the risk to Canadians enough that you feel comfortable reopening the border... maybe...

/yes I know not everyone can be vaccinated due to medical reasons.

We don't have enough evidence for how long the vaccines work yet, so I wouldn't get ahead of myself on a lot of things concerning Covid. It's defied too many aspects of other SARS infections.
