Macaron shops don't have Babish and Jon Favreau.

Subby sounds French-Canadian.  An entire shop for Macarons?  WTF?

What did you want him to make, subby? Real farkin' SPACE macarons? Much of what Babish makes can be bought in the store. The appeal is that he ties his dishes to something relevant to current and recent pop culture, and it has gotten him millions of subscribers in only a few years. Why do only the people who like to shiat on things end up submitting to the entertainment and food tabs? Just ignore this stuff if you're not impressed.

Free macarons with every chicken sandwich at St Hubert's.
Poutine is mandatory.

I was just thinking how unrelatable the phrase "macaron shop" sounds.

I'll have to ask my sommelier if he knows of any. Or the mechanic for my Jaaaaaag.

Yeah. Um, I can't go to "the macaron store," as we're not supposed to be doing any of that due to COVID-19. So, if he wants to use The Mandalorian as an excuse to make macarons on his show, more power to him, I guess.

I've got 4 macaron shops within a block of my house, and none of them have "teal". They have "ocean"  and "robin egg blue" but no teal. The one just outside of my small town said they used to carry teal, when the Detroit Pistons still played at the Palace, but it had the team logo on it... but back when the Detroit Vipers were still around, they did offer teal macarons without the logo, since both teams had the same colors, but that was almost 20 years ago.

I asked them if they could make a teal macaron, but most of the 20 or so macaron shops I checked with in our small town said they didn't want to run afoul of the Disney copyright machine.

That's dumb.  As long as you keep the Star Wars/Disney references out of the name you'd be fine.  I mean I wouldn't put it past Disney to try and trademark a color, but that wouldn't work.  Not to mention I'm sure they'd sell the macarons traditionally, with filling, unlike the show.

I mean there are multiple in Olympia, Washington. There are some in Denver, Detroit... There's definitely a primarily macaron bakery in Santa Fe...

I'm fairly sure most even moderately big cities would at least have bakeries that specialize in macarons.

I'm just impressed at the balls to sell plain vanilla macarons for $4-5 a pop.

It is now my personal mission to open and operate a 'macaron store'. Apparently the market is vastly underserved.

Well, I started checking with the shops in the nearby city, and 12 of them said they might overlook the copyright issue, but they didn't have teal coloring, and lacked the digital technology to recreate the correct color without getting the pantone clearance - and they did admit that might trigger a copyright alert.

You can't be too careful these days.

I would just buy the licensed macarons for $50 a pop, I mean, my wife makes mint selling "baby doya" figures on Etsy, but it's the principle of the thing.

You would be incorrect, it's been done.

So what if we don't have Macaron Trucks driving through our neighborhood, or sidewalk vendors like the next town over, you don't have to mock us.

I bought two light blue macarons yesterday, sugar cookie dough flavor.  (A cookie flavored like cookie dough, cookieception!)

I asked the baker if it was because of The Mandalorian and she said "Who?"

Guy who is out of his depth with macarons uses someone else's recipe to "recreate macarons from the Mandalorian" which are intentionally different from the macarons from the Mandalorian.

I get using any excuse to talk to Favreau about the Mandalorian, but this is really stretching "any excuse."
