Tis not. In Monty Python, one Knight is whole and the other not. In this old one, both Knights are screwed and in pieces.

There were a few things that were historical. The monks hitting themselves in the head? Yeah they did that. They had prayers carved into the board. It was penance because they believed their sins were causing the plague.

They aren't just comedians, they're also historians. Holy Grail is closer to the actual Arthurian legend than any other movie, despite not being more than 75% accurate.

/neither Sir Robin nor Sir Not Appearing In This Film were in the original legend

"a 15th century manuscript depicting a near-identical scene"

"
In the 15th century Sherborn Missal, an image in the margin shows two mythical hairy wild men fighting each other.
One man is using his severed leg as a sword and the other is holding his decapitated head as a shield."

Yeah, exactly the same gag. totally.

Remember when being a plagarist was scandal enough to cause you to drop out of the presidential race?

\Joe Biden remembers

The 'not quite dead, bit appears in a couple of Goon Show episodes from the '50s.  That suggests to me it's origin is a bit earlier as well.

No, he doesn't. He's an incoherent, rambling old man with dementia.

Sorry. I just drove back from Florida where that was the prevailing opinion of everyone I encountered and my brain is stuck in OANN mode.

I'm sure. Rudy is the best lawyer since Perry Mason and they'll gladly give you 9-11 reasons why.

Thanks for the offer but I'm adjusting to being back in Illinois. Sure it's cold and we can't go anywhere but at least I know that I'm in (relatively) sane state.

That comparison is a stretch. The Mail Online writing an entire article about the comparison is par for the course.
