Without AT&T, OAN would be left with a small bit of the pay-TV universe. The biggest cable operators like Comcast and Charter haven't touched it. Streaming services like Hulu, YouTube TV and Sling-all already facing rising programming costs-have been no more supportive.

Wait. You mean Comcast has some redeeming quality?

Relying on the morality of AT&T.  Motherfark.

That detachment from reality fits into a history of OAN airing hoaxes about such subjects as the novel-coronavirus pandemic (last week, YouTube suspended it for spreading COVID-19 misinformation)

YouTube should have suspended The White House's account long ago for the exact same reason.

Don't worry, Newsmax/TrumpTV will be happy to fill that void...for about half a Quibi before it goes bankrupt like all of Donny's other 'projects'.

How did you get "Comcast carries OAN" from a quote that explicitly says that Comcast doesn't carry OAN?

Also, Comcast is unlikely to carry them, since the last discussion OAN had with Comcast was a lawsuit where they sued them for $10 million.  Which was dismissed.

They cater almost exclusively to the "crazy, racist uncle" demographic. And sometimes empty rooms that were recently occupied by said racist uncles.

I heard of both, but didn't know Newsmax had a tv network until recently. I only stumbled across their website.

2020-12-01 2:06:44 AM
They and newsmax would be perfect for a streaming only model, but their target audience has to be 65+ and problems wouldn't be able to figure out how to find them without punching in a number into their cable box.

2020-12-01 2:07:55 AM
But the more important data point in Bloomberg's story may be the number it cited for what AT&T pays OAN: 15 cents a subscriber a month.

So what you're telling me is that AT&T is selling democracy at 15 cents per person. Seems to me AT&T needs the government to destroy them.

I had heard of OAN and Newsmax but really didn't know how batshiat crazy they were until this year and they seemed to be brought into the light with their stuff. Plus the segment on Last Week Tonight about them helped me understand what they were better too.

2020-12-01 7:05:17 AM
The Bloomberg report by Gerry Smith quoted Charles Herring, president of OAN's parent firm Herring Networks, as saying its DirecTV deal will continue past early 2021 without offering details, but AT&T did not confirm that to Smith.

It's more that they need the per-subscriber fee cable companies pay them.  They can't rely on advertising for funding: the My Pillow guy can only buy so many ads, after all.

We can get Amazon on the list too. I didn't know there was a Devon Nunes documentary on Amazon about all the mean people trying to hurt Trump. Not until I was on my parent's TV/algorithm. Thanks Jeff.
