It's okay, Pauly. You can barely sing your own. But we still love ya.

Trolling about the boy-band thing isnt clever stubby. Its a played-out meme.
But you probably got a chubby when it got greened, so give yourself a cookie.

Edge-lords like to label The Beatles a boy band. They think it's a clever way to diminish them because The Beatles appealed to screaming teenage girls early in their career. Of course they conveniently forget that the group formed organically, wrote their own songs, and played their own instruments, and had an amazing amount of actual talent. You know....very un-boy band stuff.

That's a lot of words to say "I haven't bought a new record since 1972."

They might have started out as a boy band, but their insane wealth allowed them to follow trends and through their already built-in popularity, make it seem like they invented them.

Meanwhile, in Motown, musicians were actually working.

The same Motown artists that adored The Beatles?

Stevie Wonder covered "We Can Work It Out"
Gladys Knight covered "Let It Be"
The Temptations covered "Hey Jude"
Smokey Robinson covered "And I Love Her"
The Four tops covered "Eleanor Rigby" and "Fool on the Hill"
Marvin Gaye covered "Yesterday"
The Supremes covered "A Hard Day's Night" and "You Can't Do That" and "Come Together"

Good musicians respect good music. I don't think a single artist on the Motown label would disparage The Beatles. Only armchair experts seem to do that.

The Beatles were the Seinfeld of rock and roll.

They were popular and innovative at the same time.  The act most commonly compared to each of them (The Rolling Stones in one case, Friends in the other case) was overrated and forgettable.

I can keep going with this analogy.

Elvis was Cheers - some people swear by him, but I prefer the later acts that were inspired by him.

Michael Jackson was Family Guy.  Incredibly popular in its day, and admittedly entertaining, but still mostly known for doing inappropriate things with a baby.

Yoko Kanno is Cowboy Bebop.  Yoko Kanno is Cowboy Bebop.
