People think Discord is for children? I'm 42, and I and my friends have been using it since before the pandemic.

This explains why so many young adults are perfectly well-adjusted for dealing with other human beings in person, especially the ones they may not entirely agree with about everything, and face real-world problems with patience, logic and diligence.

My son and his friend in our social bubble were having a sleepover on Friday and I let them play Roblox forever.  They were playing some "deathmatch" where you had to fart on each other.  You could apparently get different fart types and one of them was "doge farts" where your guy farts and a cloud of doges appear (doge meme).

Okay.

Sounds like something I would have found funny as a kid.

Some of us already knew this.  It's not really that different than the friends that I have who met their spouse in a MMORPG's.  Some "Adults" have been socializing in virtual worlds for more than 20 years.

Oh don't worry, people don't think it's just for children.

They also think it's only for white nationalist terrorists.

That's what I was using back in my WoW raid days a couple years ago, not sure I joined a raid not using discord in about 5-6 years

36 here, and same.  I've probably a dozen different servers down the side of my discord, half of them for dead games.  It was great when I moved in with the (now) wife, and my (now) step-daughters were in shock when they realized I used Discord.

Hell, it's even older than Discord. I was using Teamspeak and Ventrilo 20 years ago. Discord just made it easier and added more features.

Yeah this problem is definitely limited to young adults and does not include the 70 million whiny piss babies in the Republican party

Oh, don't get me wrong - it was funny as shiat.

I used to be kind of anti-Robolx but I never forbade it unless I was halting all game play.  And most of that was irrational bias that I recognized...basically it was no big deal.  But my son loves to code (he is 10) and has for a while.  He is a scratch *master* for his age and when he found out he could do Robolx coding he started making his own world/levels/whatever.

What little Roblox coding I looked at seemed like a cross between T-SQL syntax and C#.  I could be mistaken.  I'll let me son teach me when he gets it down.
