Kyle Butler: Who cares, what about hockey??

Basketball and hockey will both come back way too soon and there will be lots of injuries. Should make title races more interesting.

I don't give much of a shiat about the NBA.

But I don't go into threads about the NBA announcing as such.

...unless you're a Bucks fan like me, then you pay attention to the regular season and ignore the playoffs, not the other way around.

Having been a Lakers fan in the West/Baylor days, and later the Magic years, and having to root for the Bullets cum Wizards in later years, I'm in agreement.

But I really enjoyed watching Luka Garza prevent to be George Mikan yesterday - best hands in the college ranks and a great team mate - could have gone pro but stayed to give his guys a chance at the Final 4.

When they allowed zone defense in the NBA it ruined the game for me.

You mean you're not some generic, middle-aged white guy, douche-gobbling, hockey edgelord?  It's something to aspire to, from what I've seen around these parts.

It's possible to be none of those things and still not care about basketball. I don't dislike the NBA specifically, just the game of basketball in general.

I check a few of those boxes, but yeah, same for me. I just don't enjoy basketball much. I'll watch a few games a year, or if the pistons manage to not suck again kill watch them in the playoffs.

Foobaw
Hockey/baseball a tie
Basketball

In that order, for me

So I take it they won't be playing in the bubble again?

Are they seriously going to start the season in December, during the holiday Covid spikes?

Yeah, my issue is that individual players have a disproportionately huge impact for a team sport. I prefer my sports to have more balance, but that's just me.

They have to.  They're sick of the constant rewrites.

So I've been pondering my dislike of bball after commenting in this thread, and I'm kind of thinking it comes down to gym sports. I hate gyms. I hate the way they smell, I hate the sound of shoes on wood, I hate bleachers, I hated school assembly. The gym was where you got stuck when the weather sucked enough that the fat, lazy old ass gym teacher couldn't be bothered to go outside. I feel the same way about volleyball. Indoor sports just suck.

Agreed. This is madness.

Lebron shouldn't play more than ten minutes a game until the all star break if the league's attitude is "we will break you for money."

I used to watch the NBA until they all but acknowledged that they were nothing but predetermined, scripted farce.

AliceBToklasLives: and there will be lots of injuries

Hockey is probably the last injury-prone sport over the past five years since they don't hit a farking thing anymore. That's just on eye test but I did come across a stat that the average player-games lost to injury is like 50% less than it was in the 80's or 90's (I forget which band it referenced)

The sharp decline in the physicality of hockey is alarming.
