Shakes999: MattytheMouse: erik-k: starsrift: In the US, the only thing more remarkable than the effort to disdain public health care is the de-legitimization of unions. It really is honestly and truly amazing how corporations, buying politicians, have ensured that blue collar workers will vote against their best interests again and again, year after year, decade after decade.

The cultlike belief among America's exploited that they are actually temporarily embarrassed millionaires is the greatest gift crony capitalists could ever have asked for, and one they are delighted to fuel.

I'll never forget an anecdote my friend's dad told me. A union rep tried to tell him "we're trying to protect you from the company," and he said "I am the company!"

Anyway, Union Pacific laid him off several years ago, despite record profits.

Worked for UP 2 years ago. Saw everything was about to massively go in the crapper(despite record profits year after year) and bailed . My 99% Republic coworkers called me dumb for leaving and crazy. A year after I left 90% of the entire shop was laid off and left out in the cold after decades of service.

I guess what im getting at is rail workers are some of the dumbest mf-ers on the planet and constantly voted against their own interests.

Yep

They got pile driven by murcan freedomman.

This makes me feel the same way I do when people say "the government is the people!" without a hint of irony.

Is the rich people.

The sit at home stock owners eagerly waiting for the next quarter capital gains money to come in at 15% tax rate.

Rapmaster2000: Ugh. Bernie would have made it so we don't have to work anymore.

Another gop lie

Palined Parenthood: BERNIE LOST
GET OVER IT

That is true.

America lost too when it figures out 4 years from now nothing has changed.

Biden will lessen the bleeding but fundamental change is needed to stop it and dress the wound so it has a chance to heal.

The next gop president will rip open the wound again.

This has been the case since the reagan 80s.

How do i know??

I was there.  First time voted in 1980.

sinner4ever: Palined Parenthood: BERNIE LOST
GET OVER IT

It isn't about Bernie. It never has been .
It is about policy Democrats profess to endorse yet abandon once the votes are counted.

Thank you.

The Democrats used to be the party of labor.

Until they got their hands into wall street and corporate boardroom cookie jars.

Then they werent.

NathanAllen: It is high time Democrats remind the lower-middle and tradesfolk that they are their friends.

There are many economic opportunities in the modernization of our infrastructure that will be possible, if the Senate will cooperate.

Wouldn't a nationwide program of wind-farms to provide a part of the power we eat every day be a good thing?

That's a lot of linesmen jobs, a lot of shop jobs and a farking shiat-ton of electrical maintenance jobs.

Combine that with heavy investment of rural areas for cannabis cultivation and maybe some of the legitimate pinch rural America feels will relax enough for them to start articulating what they think will fix the "farking everything" that is broken there.

Because that's the problem. I honestly don't understand what is wrong in that part of America, despite the fact I grew up in that part of America. It's real farked is all I can gather from my extended family, who stayed.

The gop senate will not cooperate.

That has been the case since the reagan 80s.

This never fails to make me lol.

Until 4 or 8 or 12 years from now and very little has changed.

Which is how big business and the 1% like it.

Ginnungagap42: austerity101: UNIONIZE EVERYTHING

(except the pigs)

There are 30 - 50 feral hogs out here. And they've unionized.

The hogs are on capital hill and wall street.

Not to mention corporate board rooms.

Tarl3k: I look forward to the usual BSABSVR shills screaming about how Biden is just a corporate shill who'll never follow through...even though Biden has been blue collar since day one.

I think he has good intentions but the corporate owned senate will shut biden down just like they shut obama down.

Shaggy_C: Unfettered free trade is not labour friendly.

One of the tenents of free trade is a free labor force that can move at will.

Capital can move around but labor cant

FarkingChas: Abox: I'm all for unions.  Just don't make me join one to work in your field.
sprgrss: If you want to unionize fine, but don't make me or anyone else join your union to work and hell no to public servant unions.

So you want the better wages and the better working conditions. But you do not want to pay the price for them. You sound like the ones that do not want to pay one dollar in taxes. Ever. Make someone else pay.
Fark you.

Taxes r for the little people.

FarkingChas: sprgrss: FarkingChas: The government does not. The company does. Unless it is a government job. Some states have laws to allow people to be slimy scum-sucking POS leeches. But those are in place to hurt the unions and create the indentured servitude class.

The article discussed doing away with right to work.

Good. the "right to work" is just newspeak for the right to be fired. For any reason at any time. Like one month before earning a retirement. Perfectly legal in those states.

George orwell thanks you.

casual disregard: If you treat your employees like serfs, you will receive sub-par performance across the board. No inspiration.

If you treat your employees well, you can deliver optimal results to your shareholders and customers.

Why is this even in question?

Because capitalist used car salesmen are dumb self centered and greedy.

For all the comments bashing the Dems for no progress:

That makes the Rs a better choice?
The Rs are totally blameless?
The Rs would have allowed the Dems to make progress if the Dems had wanted to?
We should just not vote for anyone?

There are many ways to block progress even when you don't have a majority. Our political system is not simplistic.

All this talk will be moot if even one of the GA senators is an R. But you all will STILL blame it 100% on the "moderate Dems".

Linux_Yes: phrawgh: OMFG!!!11!!!! This is it! This is the End of our Freedumbs!! Time to boogaloo everyone!!!11!!!

Wow. Some of those policies will really help me and my lower middle class friends...

WHARGARBLL!!111!!! FUXK THAT SOZIALISMS SHEEROT!!11!! BURN IT ALL DOWN!!1!!! I DON'T WANT TO PAY TAXES AND BE BURDONED BY REGULATIONS WHEN I BECOME A BILLIONAIRE CEO!!!1!!!

*GOP Narrator: In a world where everyone who  works really hard becomes a billionaire CEO...

But what about the suffering at home stock owners getting less free capital gains money bec employees get more for their labor???

It sounds so scary!!

I know, right? I mean a good business that brought in a solid $1 billion net profit a day would be considered a failure. There must also be perpetual growth every quarter at all costs on top of that! Even if this requires knee capping the golden goose in the long run.

No

The difference is that bernie would be calling them out every day or week in public and on TV letting the american public know who the shiatters are and what theyre up to.  The Presidency is the perfect platform to do that.

Biden may do some of that but he owes too many favors. Hes in the beltway loop so hes not likely to rock too many apple carts.

Bernie lives to rock apple carts. Just watch on youtube the shiatters hes called out over the last 30 to 40 years.
