Metropolis.  Doctor Strange with his explosive underground lab.  Wonder Woman.  I've never seen a comic book.

This choreography is terrible.  Doctor Doom would kick Luke Cage's ass all the way from Midtown to Harlem.

I'm so glad someone was finally made "in charge" of Marvel and got to say what would and (more importantly) would NOT be done. This would not happen today. Nor should it have ever happened.

This was Marvel's answer to Batman that year.

I have seen amateur burlesque troupes with more production value.

Nah, it ran from 1987-89.

Theory: Not long after this Marvel opened their theme land in Universal studios. I bet they had some deal going on for this show and the BttF theme was still marketable and wholly owned by Universal. Looks like Universal helped with the set but the comics guys hired some actors and gave them vague directions.

Theory debunked: Universal's Islands of Adventure opened in 1999, over a decade after the BttF theme usage aired.

Ralph Bakshi once said that it didn't matter how awful those 60's-era Marvel cartoons he worked on were, just so long as Stan Lee got his royalty check. That's all Stan gave a fark about. Money money money.

You could put out a Marvel TV special as dreadful as the Star Wars Holiday Special and Stan wouldn't care as long as the check cleared.

No way Stan was getting a royalty check.

Or was reference to the company getting paid, not Stan himself?

Stan Lee WAS Marvel in those days, and you can be damn sure he had a financial stake in every character IP he created.

Those characters are all owned by the company, not him.  Company succeeding certainly helped his salary/bonus situations, but he had 0% equity ownership in any characters.

LOL, at one point, "Metropolis" almost fell over. Luckily, Magneto was able to hop intellectual properties and pull the building back down.

God, that was horribler than horrible. Definitely Jake From State Farm levels of hideous.
