Just finished Vaporum. Good, but not as good as Legend of Grimrock. Don't think I'll buy Vaporum 2 - it just looks like more of the same.

I'm wondering if I should buy The Outer Worlds on Steam's sale...any good?

Been playing AC Valhalla. Glitchy as hell, and I think I just hit a game breaking bug. I can't turn in anything to Haytham anymore even though I have stuff.

Anyhow, just a few more days until Cyberpunk.

Dirt Rally campaign continues. Hit Master level on Rallycross by winning the championship at Elite level. Now finish last in every race heh. Still working to hit Master in other two categories before retiring this one and moving on.

Also recently finished main storyline and the two add ons in Sleeping Dogs. Cleared the maps in the two mini games and working on clearing the main map before this one can be retired too.

Star Wars Squadrons update.  Farking wow.

New map that's completely different from others, literally unique.  New ship components.  New alien races for the Empire.  New paint jobs, if you care about that kind of thing.  VR improvements, and some fairly big balance changes.

Fallout New Vegas on Sony's online whatever for the first time in 7-8 years.
Still great, and worlds better than FO4 and that ridiculous cash grab/online scavenger hunt FO76.

Probably do FO3 next and by then we'll know if Cyberpunk 2077 is (hopefully) worth it.

Glitch/exploit -- sticking with space combat ...

Star Raiders for the Atari 400/800/5600 (yeah I'm old, shut up) had a glitch where you could force photon hits by firing on the 2d/3rd person long range scanner, and flipping to 3d/1st person right as the torp passed the target.  Guaranteed insta kill.

Started playing Project Diablo 2.   Good bit of nostalgia with some nice QOL improvements and new content.

We've also been playing Dead Island.  That game still has more bugs than sense.  Recently, our intrepid party grabbed the truck to go speeding to the next zone and run over some zombies . . . When the vehicle despawned for everyone but the driver.  So he could still run over zombies but we no longer had the vehicle protecting us from random zombie attack.  There was a significant amount of respawning, culminating in the game crashing for everyone when the driver exited the nonexistent vehicle.  Good times.

I did not find the Warcraft III exploit where you could trick the game into playing as "Neutral" -- which would spawn sheep in your starting location -- but I lived vicariously through it.

Finished Ghostbusters Remastered. Also finished Finding Paradise. I really like Freebird Games. They have a great tagline: "Ruining sentimental moments, one badly timed joke after another." Still enjoying couch co-op Knights and Bikes, Heave Ho,and started River City Girls. Looking for something else to hold me over just long enough until Cyberpunk 2077 releases. Maybe either Among Trees or Night In The Woods.

Deep Rock Galactic-  Bonus, it's $20 on Steam until 12/1

It's a fun First Person Shooter.  I would say it's Borderlands lite.  There are 4 different classes and each one has very long upgrade paths for equipment.  There is 4 player Co-Op, which is important.  The game was really designed to be played with friends.  You can definitely play solo, but it gets really rough as you progress.  The Steam reviews are excellent too.

I finished Metro 2033 last week. I'm on Metro Last Light now. Both the Redux versions. I'm working my way to Metro Exodus. Last Light is better than 2033 so far, but they're both a little tedious. They did a good job on the atmospherics and the claustrophobia and the tension... maybe too well? I need frequent Civ VI breaks.

Oh.  Forgot to include a glitch.  On the 2600, if you held down start game while turning the power on for Space Invaders, you would get two shots instead of one (meaning you wouldn't have to wait for your first shot to land before firing another).  It was OP.

I've mostly been plugging through some of the VR games I picked up in the Humble VR bundle a couple weeks ago.I'm really enjoyed Zero Caliber and CreedI Expect You To Die was great.  I'm saving The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners for last since its supposed to be the best of the bunch, and am working on some of the 'lesser' games in the bundle now, and they are fun too.

I also picked up Monster Hunter World today.  I've never played a MH game before, so I have no idea what I'm in for.  I ran through part of the tutorial at lunch, and am so far saddled with an annoying sidekick and a cat.  Cats are lame, I want a dog.  I named my cat 'Def Leppard', so it got a little more cool, but not much.  I haven't hit any actual gameplay yet, hopefully it gets better.

I will give Squadrons a few hours this weekend too....

Playing The Outer Wilds(beat The Outer Worlds and it's DLC again last week).

The Outer Wilds is a Very odd game. No fighting, just a strange solar system to explore and a weird tale that slowly takes shape as you uncover clues. I'm liking it, but it's... Unique.

/Odd exploits... Not really odd, but crafting in Skyrim was extremely broken. With some judicious alchemy, enchanting, and smithing, you could become an invincible God effortlessly slaying all before you.

Played through Cloudpunk which is a weird little cyberpunk voxel-based hovercar driving simulator.  It tells a decent story, although there's no real replay value for that reason.  The game as a whole is really saved by Camus, the robo-dog personality installed on your car- he's *exactly* what you'd expect.  Imagine the most chipper doggie voice you can saying things like "I am a dog.  I am a car.  I am a dog-car!"

And in an amazing bit of shipping date shenanigans, Bethesda actually shipped Fallout 76: Steel Dawn a week *early*- it came out Tuesday.  Slowly working my way through the Brotherhood of Steel quest line- Bethesda has gone with the BOS Fallout 4 asshole personality rather than the helpful Fallout 3 or turtleing Fallout NV BOS.  So far they are so obnoxious that I'm thinking the majority of the user base is going to side with the raiders instead of them even if they do have some pretty gear..

Cloudpunk screenshot since I'm guessing few people have played it

Oh, and favorite exploit?  Morrowind, the Boots of Blinding Speed and the Breton race.  The BoBS do exactly what they say - they double your movement speed (amazing) but are cursed to 100% blind you in the process (bad)

But Bretons are 50% magic resistant, which doesn't seem to apply to the speed boost but does apply to the blinding effect.  The net result is that the game window gets slightly dimmer- adjust your gamma and bingo, you move at 2x speed for the rest of the game with no penalty at all.  Given that you can get them very early in the game on a trivial quest it's not totally game breaking but incredibly powerful

Glockenspiel Hero: Oh, and favorite exploit?

In a similar vein, my favorite exploit of all time is the Skyrim Restoration glitch.

I love it, because while it can be utterly game-breaking, it doesn't have to be. You can be as subtle or as over the top as you like. You can create for yourself a slightly overpowered bow or melee weapon, or you can create godlike implements of death and destruction. Similarly for equippable items, you can give yourself a little boost where you'd like it most or turn yourself into an utterly untouchable, indestructible being.

The glitch also requires work on the part of the user. You need to get your Alchemy to at least 40 so you can take advantage of the increased strength of created potions. You're also going to need to work on your Enchanting, first by finding items to unlock the Restoration ability you need, and second to increase the effect of your Enchanting on each item.

Technically the Retsoration glitch can be done from the beginning with nothing more than the Restoration enchantment learned. The problem is that it will take a massive amount of ingredients to keep making potions to keep doubling down the cumulative effect of the glitch. So much so, that you might as well focus on increasing your skills.

If you have Skyrim Special Edition and you install the optional gameplay patch, the Restoration glitch will be corrected and won't work. I uninstalled it because I love this exploit.

More Hades and GTA V Online. Managed to get to the final area in Hades. Bit ashamed as to which weapon it was with though...the gun. Also still playing "Beat the Bots for a PS5". Have not found the victory screen for that one either.

So for weird/fun exploits, I have another Skyrim one that I did. If you never go to Whiterun at the start of the game and do the first Dragon encounter, Dragons will never show up in game. I did basically did the entire game minus the main quest without any Dragons.

I think I may be close to the end of Watch_Dogs 2, and it's been more fun than I thought it would be (my view of Ubisoft titles are kind of tainted). Also, I realized after looking at my little PS4 library that I've bought more video games this summer than I've done for the 5 (6?) years that I've had my PS3. Maybe it's the self-isolation and social distancing, or maybe there's something 'easier' about buying games digitally rather than physically (I always buy my games on sale either way anyway), I don't know.

Then I bought Stellaris: Console Edition during the Playstation Store's Black Friday Sale. So much for moderation...

/yes it's better on PC, I'm sure

I just bought the Federations DLC for Stellaris and have been giving that a whirl. So much has changed since I last played that it is like a whole new game, which is fine with me!

At the moment I am a very friendly race that just wants to trade with everyone. I am surrounded by friendly empires and am currently just pouring all efforts into research so I can eventually crank out a decent fleet.

2020-11-27 9:31:56 AM
I've been playing Foundation and Cold War Zombies quite a bit still. Have all the steps down for the easter egg in Zombies mode, but it is so hard to actually accomplish because the final waves get pretty damn ridiculous. That being said, it has been a ton of fun playing it with friends.

Also, surprisingly (even to me), I've been playing a bit of FO76. The new BoS DLC dropped early and I dipped back in to check it out. It is strange going back to that game after a year away. I forgot that people are back in Appalachia. I am also pretty under-geared now, even at level 95. Got killed by a couple of the "commie robots" and died from them pretty easily, even in Power Armor. For all the problems the game had early on, they have fixed most of the issues, and even expanded the title a tremendous amount.

i found wasteland 3 to have overpowered builds that almost allowed one character to wipe the map or another that made obscene amounts of money by being the team buyer/seller while being very low level and in the group only when going to a vendor. you can scum save at the vendors to make more money than you need and darn quickly.

I tend not to exploit games for money, because it can limit the challenge. That being said, by game finish I believe most - if not all - of my guys had at least 3 maxed stats, and were experts in a variety of weaponry.

They made the end game a bit easier to skip a lot if your Charisma is high, and giving you a literal tank with giant range AoE attack, made a lot of fights much more easy than they should have been.

Never kept me from enjoying the game though. I just checked on Steam though and I did all of the main mission and majority of the side missions in 43 hours.

2020-11-27 10:04:52 AM
This weekend I might try and get back into COD MW Warzone; I've never played the COD games (except the first) and I started playing Warzone a few months ago with friends as a social event during the pandemic.

I thought the game assets were great, so was the gameplay (with friends and as a novice). But once the honeymoon was over, I started noticing the disconnect between what I think I see/do on screen, and what happens, usually to my demise. Other aspects of it were becoming frustrating as well, which makes for poor relaxation time and worse moods, so I stopped playing. But the itch for a modern shooter is there, so I might play a bit more this weekend.

Also hoping to play a little Stellaris with friends; I really want to like this title, but the last few games we played ended in poorly, as we thought we were doing well, then an unsurvivable mid-game event curb stomped us. I like a challenge, but I also want to win a game from time to time, or at least know why I'm losing and be able to compensate without "cheesing" up the gameplay rules. Might give that one another go as well.

Debating getting Star Wars Squadrons, which I hear is decent but singe player is short. As a huge fan of Tie Fighter back in the day, I want it, but I don't want to be disappointed in the end either. And after ME:A, and cancelling C&C Generals 2, my faith in EA is pretty darn low.

Funniest glitch: Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. Playing vanilla version (no patch) as Necrons vs my friend's Space Marines. Hour-long battle, tons of dead units across the map (this is important). The Necron hero character can resurrect fallen units; one would assume to the population limit for game balance purposes.

One would be wrong. I had fought my friend to his starting point, after an hour grind (we were new to this), and he managed to hold his own by turtling and killing everything but my hero. Just before my hero fell, I used the "resurrect" power I just discovered and the game froze. For about a minute. We were about to disconnect bitterly thinking it was a crash, when an unholy sound occurred and every unit that had died at his front gates in the past 30-minutes or so was resurrected in a storm of green lightning. I think I remember a population count of 200+/20 or some such. Victory was swift and decisive. They patched it out eventually, but I was not allowed to play Necrons from that point on.

Second best glitch (well, not a glitch, more of a balance issue): Baldur's Gate Two. The cloak of reflection (whatever the name was). Turns out it reflects all spells - hilarious to go through the game fighting beholders, dragons, etc. and watching them annihilate themselves in short order. I had to stop using it as it made the game less fun coontil they patched it with the Emporium "DLC" release, iirc), but boy was it great to be a god for a little bit.
