You think it would hurt their careers? Hell, their voters would EAT IT UP if they refused.

You seriously think no one has thought of this? It's so blindingly obvious, it's practically from a West Wing episode.

This. Wouldn't. Work.

Appalling.  So this is what a Biden presidency means.

Trump would never ever do something that was technically legal but against the spirit of the Constitution.

wxboy: ME is Susan Collins, who just won reelection and thus has 6 years to let any animosity fade, if she even has a chance next time around anyway.

Collins would make a good nominee to run the EPA.

It is about time someone there was concerned about the environment.  And if there is a skill set Susan has, it is being concerned.

Well of course the Democrats won't play low-ball.

That requires Democrats to have balls of their own to play with.

That's why they're Democrats.  If they were criminals, liars, and cheaters, they'd be Republicans.

That's the primary difference between the two parties, and why Democrats struggle to fight back. The parties are not 'left-leaning' vs 'right-leaning', they're 'Actual politicians' vs. 'a hideous amalgamation of the mafia and a death cult, wearing the skin of a political party'.

The Democrats are trying to play by the old rules, where traditions, appearances and rules matter. Republicans are not bound by any of that shiat, but they're happy to weaponize it all against the Democrats.

It's like the old 'trying to play chess with a pigeon' analogy, except no matter how often the pigeon shiats on the board, the Democrats act like it made a legitimate move.

The trick is once the pigeon shiats on the board, use it. Now that white bishop can go ANYWHERE.

Yeah......no

What Biden needs is a minority of Democrats.
As far as what the world needs, its not more Democrats.

Then they could be publicly called out for lacking bipartisanship/healing the country's divide... (not that either the Ds or Rs in this scenario have any intent on playing fair...but whoever sets the narrative puts the other on the defensive)

The Democratic Party has no idea how to control the narrative.

For all the bullshiat spewed here about how great Pelosi is, she can't get her party heard in the so-called liberal media.  Maybe she ought to STFU and let the younger generation teach her about social media and sound bites.  Let Katie Potter and AOC manage the messaging.

Obama had a shiat load of dirt on Bush when he took over.  Torture.  War crimes.  I'm not saying he was wrong not to use it but I have no doubt the Republicans would have used it.

And the Republicans had no problem making shiat up on Obama since they couldn't get real honest dirt.

And Obama let it happen.

Imagine where we might be if Obama had shut down the birtherism from the start by saying, fine, you want the long form, let's go, get your f*cking Fox News crew on AF1, we're going to Hawaii to get it.

Instead of letting it drag out until the orange asshole leveraged it for his purposes and Obama provoked him by making fun of him in front of the nation.

It's like this meme that's made the circuit:

what the f*ck is wrong with you.

Nothing, you silly cat.

Pull your head out of your butt and think logically for a moment though about the timeline.

Obama making fun of Trumpy ultimately drove him to run and undo everything Obama did.

It was a stupid move in hindsight.

Are you experiencing nonlinear time or something where Trump didn't decide on revenge because he was made fun of by Obama, or have you been asleep for the past four years where he attacked and retaliated and lashed out on Twitter every time he was humiliated?

This kind of childish, ill-thought-out, glaringly obvious playground-move "strategy" is about what you can expect from the olds on Twitter. It might have worked, once, on one person, in like the 1970s or something. Here in the future it is not only doomed to failure but doomed to vicious backlash against anyone who tries it. A politically literate public would dismiss it instantly.

And that's the heart of the problem, isn't it? This is thread number 9,837 blaming the Democratic Party and journalists - and to a lesser extent, Fox News - for the continued reprehensible actions, lack of ideas and lying bullshiat from the formerly Republican Party. It's not 'the Democrats.' It's not 'the media.' Stop pretending these things are separate from the American public they represent: The problem is you.

Perhaps a better move would be to convince a senator or two to change there party affiliation from Republican to Independent (Looking at you, lame duck Toomey!) & conference with the Dems. Perhaps a chairmanship offer?

Maybe you looking into their campaign financing.  That might be a motivation.

Maybe, but I'm not so sure I want our new administration to say "You are a crook. We know it. We have your campaign disclosures. So join our team and we'll ignore all that!"

But only from states where Democrats will be appointed to replace them.

Think of it this way.  The Republican governors will appoint another Republican to fill the seat.  The difference is that seniority determines seats and chairmanships on the various Senate committees, but that seniority does not transfer to the new appointees.

While it wouldn't change the balance of the Senate...it would change the makeup of quite a few committees.
