wxboy: Recoil Therapy: HawgWild: They wouldn't accept ...

Then they could be publicly called out for lacking bipartisanship/healing the country's divide... (not that either the Ds or Rs in this scenario have any intent on playing fair...but whoever sets the narrative puts the other on the defensive)

Even the dumbest person would see this for the lame play that it is.  Democrats wouldn't score any points with it.

Maybe not the dumbest.  Clearly there are people, both in TFA and in this thread, who think it constitutes a brilliant idea.

Besides, the states with 1 or 2 R senators and D governors are: KS(2), KY(2), ME, MT, NC(2), PA, and WI.  Name the ones who would be willing to work in the Biden administration, or would even be hurt by declining.  Presumably, it would be the ones in states Biden won, which are ME, PA, and WI.  ME is Susan Collins, who just won reelection and thus has 6 years to let any animosity fade, if she even has a chance next time around anyway.  PA is Pat Toomey, who is retiring at the end of his term in 2022. WI is Ron Johnson, who is a staunch Trumper.

I hate to even say this given who I'm saying it about, but I think Susan Collins could be talked into becoming an Independent. The junior senator of ME, Angus King, is one and so is Vermont's  Bernie. Biden has known and worked with her for years and years. Perhaps she could now, after having been re-elected, finally turn away from the dark side and embrace that moderate self who she always seems to claim she really is...

. . .right, I know... WHAT WAS I THINKING???

LordJiro: LordJiro: PaulRB: skyotter: I would love to see Democrats play low-ball the way Republicans do.

I have no expectation that Democrats will play low-ball the way Republicans do.

That's why they're Democrats. If they were criminals, liars, and cheaters, they'd be Republicans.

That's the primary difference between the two parties, and why Democrats struggle to fight back. The parties are not 'left-leaning' vs 'right-leaning', they're 'Actual politicians' vs. 'a hideous amalgamation of the mafia and a death cult, wearing the skin of a political party'.

The Democrats are trying to play by the old rules, where traditions, appearances and rules matter. Republicans are not bound by any of that shiat, but they're happy to weaponize it all against the Democrats.

It's like the old 'trying to play chess with a pigeon' analogy, except no matter how often the pigeon shiats on the board, the Democrats act like it made a legitimate move.

There is a another old norm not mentioned here and that is honor, which no longer applies to any Republican - but is what being an American is all about.  You can't be a liar, a cheater, a criminal, a win-at-all-costs creep - and still have honor.

The hero in any work of fiction, who does the right thing, is an honorable person.  Does Donald Trump have honor?  Did he ever have honor?  I would argue no, which is why his lying non-stop is so despicable.  He stirs up a rather gullible and possibly not very bright audience of Americans who automatically believe what the President says is true (whichever president).  Because, in the past this was generally the case.  But Trump lies more than possible anyone has ever publicly lied.   If they gave out Gold medals in lying, we know who'd be the winner.  And we know how much Donnie loves gold.  I'm sure he'd be stupidly proud.

To some, to think the President would constantly lie to their faces can't possibly be true!  They'd think "maybe he's right with his talk of conspiracies."  My biggest fear with the shamelessness of this swindler was that he'd get the benefit of the doubt from voters who don't normally pay much attention to Trump's antics, but luckily for Democracy, not enough of these voters voted.  Luckily for Democrats, the pandemic got a lot of people to vote against Trump.  Suddenly more people were paying attention and noticing what a nightmare our President is (just for a few weeks longer).

What Biden needs is a minority of Democrats.
As far as what the world needs, its not more Democrats.

Collins would make a good nominee to run the EPA.

It is about time someone there was concerned about the environment.  And if there is a skill set Susan has, it is being concerned.

Well, at least then President Biden has tried to accommodate Republicans.....so he can tell everyone else telling him to include GOP assholes in his government to fark the fark off.

As usual, we have firmly established that the malfeasance of the Republicans is clearly the fault of Democrats.

Appalling.  So this is what a Biden presidency means.

Trump would never ever do something that was technically legal but against the spirit of the Constitution.

Obama had a shiat load of dirt on Bush when he took over.  Torture.  War crimes.  I'm not saying he was wrong not to use it but I have no doubt the Republicans would have used it.

Trump had aspirations to run for the presidency as far back as the Nixon admin.

Offer them cookies.

You know, Trump will probably leave his big file of unreported crimes that he has on everyone in the desk. Biden could just call them up and remind them that they (checks)...  Sent their daughter to an illegal abortion factory in Guatemala.

Kittypie070: null: Instead of letting it drag out until the orange asshole leveraged it for his purposes and Obama provoked him by making fun of him in front of the nation.

F*cking really??

YES REALLY, IT TRIGGERED THE WHINY ORANGE BIATCH INTO UNDOING EVERYTHING OBAMA EVER DID!

2011 WHCD, Obama made fun of Trump
2013 Supposed Pee Tape incident in Moscow, because Trump was that, ahem, pissed off about Obama making fun of him that he had hookers piss in the bed Obama slept in.
2015 Trump rides the escalator down and announces he's running for office.

Name any evidence you have that Trump is NOT the sort of petty, vindictive, easily triggered, bunker biatch baby we've seen him to be.  So yes, Obama taunted the orange dynamite monkey and this was the end result.

To be perfectly fair, nobody could have predicted this in advance, but if this was a Time Travel TV Show and you were gonna undo one event leading to our current timeline, I'd say "not publicly humiliating Donald Trump at the WHCD" would be something to have fairly high up on the list.

There's the timeline

2020-11-26 10:01:06 AM

null: And Obama let it happen.

Imagine where we might be if Obama had shut down the birtherism from the start by saying, fine, you want the long form, let's go, get your f*cking Fox News crew on AF1, we're going to Hawaii to get it.

Instead of letting it drag out until the orange asshole leveraged it for his purposes and Obama provoked him by making fun of him in front of the nation.

Have you ever seen one Black man, regardless of who they are*, face down a mob of racist assholes especially em imaging from the today's GOP. Obama was smart to ignore the likes of Trump, Bannon, Miller, et al. It drove them crazy, causing them to go on a 4 year hate rage bender.

I hear your point, but not sure it holds up under the power of concerted Trumpian White American Racism®

*( LeBron James got profiled  and verbally assaulted, by either a racist cop or just a racist outside his mansion in Cali.)

null: HawgWild: They wouldn't accept ...

So then the next comment out of Biden and the Democrats should be "we tried to be bipartisan, see, we reached across the aisle and offered seats to the GOP and they refused!"

And then keep up the noise about the Do-Nothing Republicans hurting America and how they refuse to cooperate or act in a bipartisan fashion for the good of America.

This works for the right, flip the script on them for once and see if you can swing the moderates back.

Obama offered Secretary of Commerce to Senator Judd Gregg. He initially accepted, then the fevered right screeched at him and he backed down because Obama was being too divisive. You can't shame the right. Being right isn't enough.

In states with Democratic governors.

Nothing, you silly cat.

Pull your head out of your butt and think logically for a moment though about the timeline.

Obama making fun of Trumpy ultimately drove him to run and undo everything Obama did.

It was a stupid move in hindsight.

Are you experiencing nonlinear time or something where Trump didn't decide on revenge because he was made fun of by Obama, or have you been asleep for the past four years where he attacked and retaliated and lashed out on Twitter every time he was humiliated?

Nobody said that.

What was said is that making fun of Trumpy at the WHCD definitely helped set us on this course.

If this was an episode of Doctor Who, The Doctor would be telling us some bullshiat about that being a fixed point in time or whatever where the course of history changed.  Or whatever sort of babble Moffat writes in to explain why history can't be changed.

Usually this sort thing comes with a deal that the on the replacement issue. Also some stares have laws that require the replacement appointed by the governor come from the same party.
