We've had these in the U.S. for over 30 years and we need more, larger ones. Animal collisions cost us about $8 Billion annually.

This bridge is in Parleys canyon. SLC - Park City. Not sure why they waited so long to put one up. It can be a very unforgiving place for all.

How long until the predators learn to hang by the bridge waiting for food?

Gnaglor: How long until the predators learn to hang by the bridge waiting for food?

The deer in the picture seem to be wondering as well. That's cougar bait if ever there was.

While we've got 20 or 25 percent unemployment is the perfect time to have federally funded crews building wildlife bridges across every four lane or wider highway in every state in the nation.

We could also fund research into high speed rail at our top tech Universities; build the worlds' fastest passenger trains in the rust belt; lay an interstate rail system that runs above ground, underground, or through tunnels - whatever necessary so that animals, pedestrians, and other vehicles cannot cross their path.

We need crews constructing bike paths also. Real bike paths - not those stupid lines painted in the middle of the road where motor vehicles drive.

Of course, we must increase funding to the National Institutes of Health. It's time to stop giving the NIH a dollar menu budget. All existing facilities, such as the CDC, should be maxed out with personnel. We should consider building new facilities as well. There are plenty of stem majors out there. Let's give them something to do besides make meth, join the military, or commit suicide.

There are other things we could do as well. The American people pay their taxes - especially the working class. It's time for the federal government to help out the folks who have been deprived of the work that sustained them.

I could not agree more and I also firmly believe this kind of spending should be done with a portion of the discretionary funds that usually goes to "defense" to help balance the budget.

And I would like a subscription to your newsletter please.
