The city will lose more money in the long run from doing this than they will gain from having these tournaments.

I made the mistake of staying at a hotel hosting a youth soccer tournament once. The little bastards pulled the fire alarm twice that night and each time it took the fire department an hour to issue the all-clear. Swear to God I nearly cold cocked a few of those little assholes running wild in the halls after all of that.

I was next in line to check out at a grocery store.  The lady in front of me was writing a check (This was long ago, so that in itself wasn't the unusual delay it is now).  While mom was distracted by the check writing process her 6 year old son wandered off, put his hand on the fire alarm, looked at his mom, and before I could say anything he pulled the alarm.  30 minutes later I paid for my 4 or 5 items and left, wishing I could cold cock that kid.

When I walk in the local park I can see kids playing soccer, some of the rules are dumb as hell. They make parents stay in their cars to watch, that is good, kids on the sidelines wear masks, good but kids on the field don't have to and neither do the refs, WTF. They are out there close and bumping into one another, just seems so stupid.

Oh, for chrissakes... I wanted Arizona to turn blue, bit not from lack of breathing.

Some well coordinated groups of kids under 12 being screened and disinfecting before playing outdoor sports while wearing masks is probably ok.
500 Families staying in hotels and going to crowded restaurants and pubs is insane.  Some will go home after this and kill grandma. And remember, it's never the one you want.  You'll always be remembered for killing the good grandma.

It is all part of playing the game in order to play the game.

its not 500 families, its 500 teams, 420 out of state, so with at at least 12 players on a team, its 6000 families, and we're all farked, this is never going to end.
